Phoenix breaks July 8 daily temperature record with high of 118 degrees

Phoenix broke the daily record temperature for July 8 by three degrees Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

The previous record for July 8 was set in 1985 with a high temperature of 115 degrees, the weather service said in a post on X. On Monday, Phoenix broke the record by three degrees with a high temperature of 118 degrees.

At 2 p.m., the Sky Harbor International Airport hit 116 degrees, beating the daily record by one degree. About an hour and a half later, at 3:25 p.m., the airport reached 118 degrees, raising the new daily record by another two degrees.
