John Alexander Ronquillo, 70, a seventh-generation Arizonan and Scottsdale resident, passed away on July 1, 2024. Born in Tucson, John graduated from San Manuel High School before serving honorably in the Army National Guard. For nearly 35 years, John dedicated his career to Salt River Project, taking on various roles throughout his tenure. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through his side ventures, including an ice cream truck business and crafting custom arrows for bowhunters in the White Mountains. John's commitment to community service was exemplary. He volunteered tirelessly for organizations such as the Boy Scouts, ZooLights, and the Fiesta Bowl. Those closest to him will remember his extraordinary generosity. He is survived by his son, Dr. John C. Ronquillo, daughter-in-law Holli Ronquillo, and grandsons Rhys Ronquillo and Efren Ronquillo. He also leaves behind sisters Sarah (Ray) Barney, Cindy (Albert) Ortiz, Shelly (Michael) Barriga, Candi (Amaro Tovar) Ronquillo, and Kim (David) Nolen, along with several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents John P. Ronquillo and Anita Alday Grantland, step-parents Hubert Grantland and Cora Ronquillo, siblings Irene Romero, Charles Ronquillo, Lillian Ronquillo, and Carol Eubanks, as well as his ex-wife Christie Stewart Ronquillo. A private memorial will be held at a later date to celebrate John's life and legacy.
