Raymond “Monie” Chavez was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He left his earthly body on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at home in the presence of his family. His battle with cancer in recent years showed his courage and fierce fight. Despite the pain, Monie came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
He was born on November 11, 1938 to Thomas and Pola Chavez. He is preceded in death by his wife Virginia Chavez. He is survived by their five children; Mary Helen (Robert), Diana (Danny), Reymundo, Roberta (George), Rita (Lupe), and 28 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held in his honor on Thursday July 11, 2024. Visitation will take place at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home at 8:30am and a Rosary will be given at 9:30am. Mass will be held at 11:00am at St. Anthony Catholic Parish, 909 S. 1st Street, Phoenix, AZ 85003. Interment will immediately follow mass at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008. Condolences may be expressed at www.whitneymurphyfuneralhome.com
