Keith's news flash to Yankee fans: 'Cool dad' Aaron Boone isn't going anywhere

Many Yankee fans have been clamoring for Aaron Boone to be fired amid the team’s brutal slump, and Keith had to sit the fanbase down and explain to them that they won’t get the blood they are seeking during the season.

“Here’s a news flash for you,” Keith said. “They’re not firing anyone, especially not in the middle of the season or before the All-Star break.

“They’re not firing a guy with 55 wins, potentially on his way to another 100-win season. But I understand as a fan of baseball and the unwritten rules, that you’re frustrated with the manager. As a Yankee fan, seeing the same things over and over again and expecting different results, I understand why you’re pissed off at Brian Cashman. But many of you were tipping your cap to him in the beginning of the season.”

The Yankees haven’t fired a manager during a season in decades, and it has never been done under Brian Cashman. Keith doesn’t see that track record changing, even with the Yanks playing poorly while making mental blunders and showing a lack of hustle at times during this stretch.

But, he also doesn’t believe Boone is the guy to change that issue with the Bombers.

“This lackadaisical, fall-asleep-at-the-wheel baseball that the Yankees play, it’s infectious throughout that whole clubhouse, and I don’t think Aaron Boone can change it,” Keith said. “He’s mad dad when it comes to tightening up the umpires, defending his guys. But he’s cool dad with these guys, and it pisses you off because you want him to call someone out.”
