C-Mac doesn't get criticism of Aaron Boone's press conference 'clichés'

As the Yankees continue to slide, many fans have been critical of Aaron Boone and his relentless positivity that he reflects to the media, mocking some of his rally cries like “it’s right there in front of us,” which he repeated during their latest series loss to the Red Sox.

C-Mac, who was critical of Boone after the Yanks lost to Boston on Sunday night, says the complaints about Boone’s repeated remarks are unwarranted and simply foolish.

“They’re clichés for a reason. They get used often,” C-Mac said. “The idea that Aaron Boone says the same thing when they’re going through a bad stretch, show me a manager who is good in a press conference when his team has lost 16 out of 22. Show me the good press conference manager there. It’s so stupid to me.

“I’m more concerned with what happens on the field than in the press conference.”

Boone famously said “it’s right there in front of us” as he slammed his hand down on the table when the Yanks, after drawing comparisons to the 1998 team thanks to a historic start, were scuffling badly in 2022. Fans have used that season as a reason to be frustrated with Boone bringing back that rally cry, which C-Mac says is misguided.

“What happened in ’22? Because maybe I have a different memory,” C-Mac said. “They lost in the ALCS. They were in an enormous funk, he said ‘it’s right there in front of us’ and slammed the table, and they won 99 games, won the division, and made it to the ALCS…the idea that ‘it’s gonna be the same as 2022,’ I honestly hope so. I hope they win 99 games and win the division and make it to the ALCS. Sign me up right now…I would love for the regular season to end the same way it did in 2022.”
