After three straight losses put the Rangers on the brink of elimination, Blueshirts fans at WFAN began turning on each other.
It began with Sal Licata calling out Boomer for not going to the game, though Boomer didn’t wind up missing much as the Devils dominated again.
“Boomer’s gotta be better,” Sal said. “Are you a Ranger fan or not? You can’t say you need to get sleep and not go to the game. This is the playoffs. There’s no time for sleep.”
Then, Shaun Morash piled on as well, telling Boomer to kiss his ass after Boomer took exception to Morash, and Sal, predicting sweeps after the Blueshirts grabbed a 2-0 series lead while outscoring New Jersey 10-2.
“I’m not gonna get down into the swamp hole with these guys,” Boomer said. “We know Sal is a fraud. We know Sal is a fraud, because you brought him to the Islanders game and put on the Islanders jersey, then he went above you and got invited back to the Islanders.
“I don’t want to get into it with these guys. I’ve been a Ranger fan since 1968, and I don’t want to hear about it.”
As for his beef with Shaun, Boomer knows he touched the money, and the blame should be placed at his doorstep.
“He knows what he did is idiotic,” Boomer said. “I wasn’t the dumbass that had my broom out on my bar sweeping it after going up 2-0 on the Devils.”
