Boomer: Rangers and 'Elmer Fudd' Gerard Gallant getting outcoached by Devils' Lindy Ruff

Boomer Esiason wasn’t in the highest of spirits to begin Tuesday morning’s show.

He had a bone to pick with some of his co-workers who were predicting a sweep after his Rangers dominated the Devils in games one and two, and now, it’s suddenly a brand new series with New Jersey taking both games at MSG.

“I’ve been better,” Boomer said. “I give all the credit to the Devils and Lindy Ruff. The Devils fans wanted Lindy Ruff fired at the beginning of the year, and right now, he’s basically outcoaching Elmer Fudd.
It’s ridiculous what’s happened here.”

Elmer Fudd, being Blueshirts head coach Gerard Gallant, ripped his players for a “lazy” effort in Monday’s game four loss, where 22-year-old Devils netminder Akira Schmid once again allowed just one goal, and the momentum of the series seemed to drastically shift to the Devils with the series shifting back to New Jersey for game five on Thursday night.

“We make rookie goalies look like freaking Jacque Plante, for God’s sake,” Boomer said. “This is what it means to be a Ranger fan.”
