Keith: Pete Alonso got All-Star Game nod over Lindor, Nimmo to 'sell those ugly-ass jerseys'

Pete Alonso is an All-Star while, at least for now, Francisco Lindor and Brandon Nimmo are not.

Many expressed disbelief with Alonso getting the nod over his two Mets teammates, with a large corner of the fanbase arguing that Lindor and Nimmo are having better seasons and are more deserving.

Keith said it came down to the league wanting to include the face of a team in one of its biggest markets.

“Pete is gonna make it because they gotta sell these ugly-ass jerseys,” Keith said, noting the highly-criticized design of the All-Star Game jerseys.

As much as you hated on Lindor and Nimmo, Pete Alonso is the face of the Mets, the most popular Met. They’re gonna sell more jerseys with ‘Alonso, 20’ on the back.

“So Pete Alonso is gonna be in the All-Star Game even though there are guys better than him, but whatever, he’s gonna be in the Home Run Derby, and that’s a way for them to sell the Home Run Derby as well. ‘Pete Alonso goes for his third derby championship.’ It’s fine.”
