Haason Reddick, Aaron Rodgers unexcused absences from Jets mandatory minicamp

Robert Saleh announced two unexcused absences from Jets mandatory minicamp, one being much more expected than the other.

Haason Reddick, Gang Green’s newly-acquired pass rusher, will not be showing up this week as he holds out for a new contract. The former Eagle was brought in via trade but did not participate in voluntary workouts, and was the only player to skip media day.

Saleh, who previously had no communication with Reddick since the trade, told reporters that he now has spoken with him, and has no worries about him being ready for the season.

“We’ve got two unexcused absences. Once being Haason,” Saleh said. “Spoke to him over the weekend, and appreciate the dialogue. He’s in a great place mentally…but he’s choosing to sit out this one unexcused.”

The other unexcused absence is Aaron Rodgers, who Saleh said is attending an event, and despite communicating it with Saleh, he, along with Reddick, will be subject to fines as per the CBA.

“Aaron and I spoke before OTAs started,” Saleh said. “He’s been very good with communication and has been here the entire time. It’s unexcused, but he had an event that was very important to him, which he communicated.”

Sal broke the news to BT, who promptly went off.

“I don’t give a rat’s ass about Haason Reddick all of a sudden,” BT said. “Where the hell is my quarterback??”
