Boomer: Could Bill Belichick come to Jets if this season goes awry?

As the NFL season draws closer and Bill Belichick nears his first season without a team to coach in decades, Boomer wonders if the legendary leader could make a return next season with a most unlikely team.

What if Belichick found his way to the Jets to replace Robert Saleh if Gang Green has another disappointing year and decides to clean house?

“That’s gotta be a little dig at Robert Kraft and the Patriots, right?” Boomer wondered. “But if there’s only one team that goes after him, because Woody Johnson is sick and tired of losing. And that’s only if they lose this year, of course.”

Saleh is almost certainly on the hot seat if the Jets season goes haywire, as expectations are high with the return of Aaron Rodgers and a revamped offensive line. But if injuries arise again and the longest playoff drought in North American sports continues, could ownership go for a big splash to appease the fanbase, while giving Belichick a chance to stick it to the Patriots after parting ways with him?

“He believes in a heavy dose of revenge, I’m sure…if it were the Jets,” Boomer said.

Gio isn’t buying it at all, as he believes Belichick would want no part of his former AFC East rival, who he famously, and mysteriously, spurned for the Patriots after resigning as head coach right after getting the job.

“I think he will never take the Jets job,” Gio said. “I think he hates the Jets, and I don’t think he likes Woody Johnson.”
