Aaron Rodgers will once again not be at Jets mandatory minicamp on Wednesday, and while Gio doesn’t see it as a huge deal, he believes Robert Saleh and Gang Green made it one with his comments on Tuesday, as the Jets once again found a way to dominate headlines for the wrong reasons.
“I don’t think it matters, but it really is amazing,” Boomer said. “This year, every little thing shows up as a headline.”
It’s a bigger deal to Boomer, who believes Rodgers is once again not internalizing his own message to the team when it comes to keeping the distractions and nonsense out of the building.
“He’s the one who said you have to eliminate the distractions,” Boomer said. “All he is is one big giant distraction, no matter what it is. Could it be some sort of memorial funeral? Could it be a golf event? A fundraising event? It could be a million different things…but you have a responsibility for a mandatory minicamp to be there.
“Most of the stuff we’ve been speaking of in regards to him has been off the field. He’s an amazing player…whatever the event is, I’m sure it’s important to him…but it’s just another layer of crap that you have to deal with.”
