Evan still 'stunned' by Mikal Bridges trade in show-opening rant

Evan was still in shock after taking a full day to absorb the Mikal Bridges trade, and still lamented the Nets for dealing him to their crosstown rival Knicks for five first-round picks.

“I am mortified. I am stunned. I am shocked,” Evan said. “Never in my sports fan life have I been as stunned or as shocked.

“I still don’t think it was enough…I am a mess. I am ticked off.”

It isn’t just the reality that the Nets may have given the Knicks their missing piece to become legitimate title contenders. Evan doesn’t feel like four first rounders directly from New York, which could very well be late first-round picks, is enough for Bridges.

“I’m not surprised he wanted to be there,” Evan said. “I’m surprised the Nets agreed to it. The Knicks are gonna be good. All those draft picks will not be lottery dreams. It’s not gonna be Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown the way it worked out for Boston.

“I wasn’t against trading Mikal Bridges. I didn’t think this was gonna be enough. Five first-round picks, four of them from the Knicks, who are gonna be good. You guys are gonna be good. Congratulations, this was a smart trade…this is the perfect fit for your team.”
