Ratan Shrivastava is a nonresident fellow at the Atlantic Council’s South Asia Center and leads BowerGroupAsia in India. He is a senior executive and management consulting professional who has a proven track record in government, consulting, and industry across India and Southeast Asia, with a wide network across stakeholders. He has developed and implemented growth strategies for both the public and private sector and has led diverse teams to secure new market opportunities.

Prior to joining BowerGroupAsia, Shrivastava was at KPMG India where he helped the integration of small and medium industry clusters into domestic and global aerospace, defense, and space supply chains. He also served as an advisor at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, where he helped develop domestic space and satellite industry initiatives and built business strategies for collaboration between Indian industry and international partners.

Shrivastava headed the defense exports division at Ashok Leyland Ltd. where he led the geographic expansion to new markets in Africa for military vehicles, in cooperation with the US Department of State and UN Peacekeeping Forces. As the practice leader and director at Frost & Sullivan, Shrivastava built the firm’s aerospace and defense consulting practice with a client portfolio of multinational companies and government entities in India and Singapore. He assisted clients with the development of growth strategies, market planning, and market access, including the identification of new markets, competition analysis, and localization strategies.

Before joining the private sector, Shrivastava worked at the Indian Ministry of Defence Master General of Ordnance Branch for capital acquisitions and revenue procurements. He managed procurements for the Indian Army’s air assets and was responsible for the techno logistics management and the financial allocation and accounting of the annual budget for state-owned aerospace and defense companies. He began his career in the Indian Army as an officer and was released after nearly two decades with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

Shrivastava received an executive post graduate diploma in management from the Management Development Institute in Gurgaon, India, and a post-graduate diploma in materials management from the College of Materials Management in Jabalpur, India. He completed the junior command course at the College of Combat and holds a bachelor of humanities in history from Delhi University.

Ratan is a prolific writer and is quoted extensively in business and professional papers such as the Economic Times, Business Standard, and the Financial Express. He features frequently on national television channels on regulatory, policy, strategy, and aerospace and defense issues. He is a certified mediator and teaches yoga and meditation as voluntary service.
