Atomic has published its second Impact Statement, detailing the progress and new insights gained since its initial commitments in 2023. This statement highlights Atomic’s dedication to addressing the climate crisis through action, innovation, and collaboration, providing a comprehensive look at how Atomic is executing its sustainability strategy and pursuing its targets.

“As stewards of the skiing community, we recognize our obligation to minimize the impact of our business while shaping the future of the sport.” -Wolfgang Mayrhofer, President, Atomic and Armada

Atomic’s sustainability highlights in 2023:

  • Organized the ski industry’s first climate summit, which was instrumental in the creation of the Ski Industry Climate Pact.
  • Continued using a science-based approach to measure the CO2 impact of individual products, allowing for sustainable innovations in design and performance.
  • Developed a new lower-impact design for freeride skis, including the Maverick 115 CTI, Maverick 105 CTI, and Bent Chetler 120. This design utilizes more wood and less fiberglass, Titanal, and resin, resulting in a reduction of over 24% in CO2 equivalent emissions for the new Maverick skis and 13% for the Bent Chetler 120 compared to their 2022 models.
  • An ongoing audit aims to certify the Environmental Management System at the Altenmarkt site according to ISO 14001, with completion expected in 2024, setting a global benchmark for low-impact ski production.
  • Launched a trial boot take-back program in Austria, where 61 retailers collected over 2,500 pairs of boots, saving more than 10 tons of material from landfill between January and March.
  • Introduced a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) process to accurately assess products’ emissions from raw materials to end-of-life treatment. The team prepared 17 product LCAs and plans to extend this process across all new in-house designed products.
  • Efforts to extend product lifespans through repairs include aiming to establish a fully operational renew center for boots by 2024.
