    This is my fifth SimpleHuman step trash can; big one in kitchen, small ones in bathrooms, and this one to fit under a small bench in the mud room. All brushed nickel finish. The various size options are just right, for my uses. They’re attractive and they work; the one in the kitchen is still working perfectly after eight years. I see that the new small models have a “hidden” hinge, so you can put them up right up against a wall; can’t comment on that, but seems like it would be even nicer.

    As many others have said, this thing needs more weight to prevent tipping. Easily remedied by adding a weight to the bottom of the removable plastic liner can, underneath your plastic bag liner. It's not hard figure that out. A rock, brick, whaterver you have handy. A 2.5lb dumbbell plate is perfect, as long as its diameter is no more than 5.5" inches (they are cheap).

    This product is fairly durable; it doesn't feel or look cheap. The step and lid actually work and the lid closes snuggly. It looks nice and is not so ugly where you would otherwise feel the need to hide it.

    My only criticism is the obnoxiously large box this was delivered in which was 4 times bigger than it needed to be. What's worse is it had no packing filler to secure it; the can was only sealed in a plastic bag by the manufacturer. The can was just flopping around in the box. I actually heard the metal can hit the porch when the delivery guy through the box on the porch. No wonder many are complaining about receiving these dented. I was a lucky one though; mine miraculously had no dents. Funny Amazon is not conserving trees by using wasteful extra large boxes, but they seem to be preserving plastic by not using any bubble wrap at all. They seem to have it backwards.
