On April 11 2019, I purchased an Alpine PDX-V9 amp - a $600+ 5 channel amp that pushes 900 watts. It was (and still seems to be) their top-of-the-line amp in the 5 channel category. It was purchased to replace the same amp that had developed a problem through 3 years of use - an intermittant POP that would occur whenever the air conditioner thermostat would engage. As well, it picked up a slight hum when the electronic mirrors were adjusted. No other electronic noise (engine, etc.) was being picked up. The car stereo professional who has done every installation in every vehicle I own was booked for 6 weeks once I received the amp (in mid April). He owns his own business in North Scottsdale and is constantly working, often on extremely high dollar vehicles - think Mclarens, BMWs, MBs, Bentleys, etc. When he was scheduled to do the install, he had a family member fall ill and that pushed us back another two weeks. We are now in mid-June. The amp was installed... and the very same issues occured with the brand new amp. In contacting Alpine, it appears there may be an internal circuitry issue with how that amp interacts with my 4Runner's electronics. We tested a JL 5 channel amp and there were NO issues. Instead of pulling the amp and having NO music, I rescheduled time to pull it two weeks later. It was pulled at the beginning of August. We changed over to the JL amp. I contacted the seller, who agreed to refund my money. I then reached out to Asurion for a refund. The pro-rated the refund charging me $6.14 for a warranty that was never used. They did not ask about ANY of the specifics. When I reached back out to them to try to give them more info, they simply shut me down based upon time frame of return and would hear nothing more. NOW, IMAGINE IF YOU HAVE AN ACTUAL WARRANTY ISSUE WITH THEM. JUST WHAT DO YOU THINK THAT WILL LOOK LIKE? 1 Star rating for - ABYSMAL SERVICE.
