It's been weeks since I read the Dead Men Walking Duet books AND I'M IN A READING SLUMP BECAUSE I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT THEM.
Niall, ugh! I love him!
I do wish there was more of Jack though. I liked him, but there wasn't much of his character. And I liked the joke of his silence, but he didn't even get much dialogue with Brooklyn, which was disappointing.
Still LOVE LOVE LOVE this series.

I’m a fan of all things Susanne/Caroline (all the way back to the Cage of Lies series). I love their books.

This 1st book was crazy. It was super dark and twisty (hello, “The Death Club”), yet funny. I laughed out loud a lot. It’s been a while since I’ve found a book both sizzling AND funny.

The FMC Brooklyn/Spider is so interesting. She has a very tragic backstory, but her internal monologue is hilarious. She has little to know filter, so it’s pretty similar external monologue with the omission of anything that shows her as vulnerable. She’s young, but had to grow up fast.

Her chemistry with Mateo/Dead Man and Niall/Hellfire is HOT. Niall is wild and insane. Mateo (who Niall is keeping captive) seems much more into a rules regiment. He’s very much about control, which is ironic since he has none in this book. Both appeal to different parts with Brooklyn. She craves the structure Mateo thrives on, but she relates to the chaos that Niall thrives on. Niall has a lot of deep seeded issues and guilt he is struggling with, which is part of why he sees Spider as a kindred spirit. Yet, he’s determined to punish himself for the rest of his life. I won’t reveal why, but it’s tragic. I was mostly #TeamMateo for this book, although I started understanding the Niall appeal towards the end of the book and am looking forward to seeing what happens in Book 2. Brooklyn/Spider constantly trying to make Mateo and Niall bury the hatchet was comical. I started being won over by Niall when he said that Mateo tried to steal his house and Mateo responded “THIS IS MY HOUSE.’ That was a LOL moment. When you read the book, once you get to that part you will understand WHY that is so funny.

I’m looking forward to seeing how Niall resolves his family complications. I hope he severs permanently. I have a feeling he’ll have a harder time getting rid of his Russian fiancée in his upcoming arranged marriage, than he will his actual blood family. I’m also looking forward to learning more about Mateo and his backstory (assuming he and Niall don’t kill each other first).

I feel like the actual “Death Club” really started to take form at the end of the book and I, for one, cannot wait to see how the Club evolves and the dynamics change throughout the series. I think there may be an additional member soon to be added based on the ending of the book, but I could be wrong.

Book 2 was A-MAZ-ING! These authors give you EVERYTHING in a read and so much more! I was enthralled with this book from beginning to end, but of course I’m like that with all the sisters books 😉. You’ve got suspense, action, adventure, romance, sex, hate, etc. This duet series is a definite must read! I’m just enraptured with Brooklyn, she’s crazy but has so much love in her that it’s easy to see how she was able to capture all the mens hearts.

I got my ARC from the Twisted Sisters and it did not disappoint. I could not put it down. This book had me laughing out loud. The characters sucked me in to this rollercoaster of a ride. It was absolutely amazing.
