I paired this up to the Bose 700 Soundbar. It wirelessly connects to the soundbar, but there is an option of running a line into it. In general, though, all you need is to plug it in and open the Bose app and add it as a module to the Sound Bar. It complements it nicely. You can adjust how much Bass you want or you turn off just the Bass Module and play from only the Soundbar. It's a handy feature if you want to send the kids to bed and don't want low frequencies vibrating through the house. I just wish that it would remember that it was turned off the next time I or the kids turn the soundbar on. It's kind of awkward to turn off the bass module, send the kids to bed, and then have it vibrate the house the next morning when the kids turn on the TV again.

It handles well with high volume or with just quiet subtle volume. You can set it up to emit powerful room shaking bass (theater-like), or just enough bass so that you hear it (my preference). It's cleanly balanced, too, but as I mentioned, you can adjust it with the app. You can increase the bass levels, and/or increase the Module's volume in relation to the soundbar. I prefer to hear the full depth of the audio, but not have the bass over power the other frequencies. My settings are usually following:

Center Channel, 30
Bass, 0
Treble, 100
Bass Module Speaker Level, 10

I've had the JBL Surround System with detachable speakers, but this sounds so much better. The JBL subwoofer had a lot of power, but was very boomy. This is module does so much better. I highly recommend.
