I knew this was a mystery story going in, but it was quite different than Elin’s other novels set on Nantucket. The characters were rich and multi-faceted, but the back and forth timeline that often took us off Nantucket wasn’t my favorite. The story definitely needed context to give the mystery depth, but the dual timelines and locations were a slight miss for me. The book is still 4.5 stars, and definitely worth the read but if you’ve read a lot of her other work, just expect this one to be a bit different.
