We're Committed to Sustainability

We're Committed to Sustainability

It's good for the planet. It's good for our customers. And it's good for the communities where our stores are located.

Amazon is on the path to power our operations with 100% renewable energy by 2025 – five years ahead of our original target of 2030 – and we’re committed to reach net-zero carbon by 2040.

Here are some of the ways Amazon Fresh is working toward those commitments.

PACKAGING & PRODUCTS

We're using innovative packaging that delights customers, reduces materials, and keeps grocery items chilled.

With more than 600,000 Climate Pledge Friendly products in the U.S. available to shop, customers can join our efforts.

Whenever we can, we reduce the amount of insulation and packaging we use in delivery orders based on the weather.

BUILDINGS & DISTRIBUTION

One of our Seattle stores is the world's first grocery store to acheive Zero Carbon Certification from the International Living Future Institute. Learn more about our journey.

80% of our deliveries in Manhattan are delivered to the customer via e-bike – and we're looking to increase that percentage.

SOURCING OUR PRIVATE BRANDS

We are committed to sourcing cage-free whole shell eggs in North America and Europe. As of 2022 we met this goal for our entire selection, three years ahead of schedule.

Our sustainable coffee is certified by Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade International, or Fair Trade USA. Learn more about our sourcing commitments.

The paper in our paper towels, toilet paper, and facial tissues comes from sustainable sources certified by Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).
