The Way I Hate Him Audible Audiobook ā€“ Unabridged

From USA Today and Amazon Charts best-selling author Meghan Quinn, and narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Vanessa Edwin, comes a new stand-alone age-gap rom-com featuring a new cast of characters that will immediately have you hooked. This steamy, laugh-out-loud enemies-to-lovers small-town romance delivers the perfect happily ever after every romance lover craves.

Why am I holding a box of stolen memorabilia in my arms? It's called...revenge.

After failing my last semester of grad school, I decided to come back to my hometown and wallow in my boyfriendā€™s sympathetic arms. Instead, he proceeded to dump me...for being boring!

Now, I'm not typically a spiteful person, but there's only so much I can take. Hence why Iā€™m holding the box of his most cherished possessions...stolen possessions no less!

The plan? To give the box back to its rightful owner and rat my ex out. Howā€™s that for being boring?

But plans never go the way you want them, because instead of dropping off the box with a note, Iā€™m pinned with the crime by the true owner of the box himself.

Hayes Farrow is grumpy, arrogant, and stupidly hot in a way that makes it hard to even look him in the eye. Not to mention heā€™s my brotherā€™s nemesis so I fully intended to stay far far away from the gorgeous jerk.

But to add insult to the injury that has become my life as of late, Hayes gives me two options: Turn me into the police and press full charges...or work it off. How could I possibly work for someone I can't stand? Easy, I don't look good in orange.

But working for Hayes isn't as horrible as I thought it would be. The way I hate him begins to turn into something elseā€”something I never thought I'd feel. But the way my brother reacts when he finds out Iā€™m working for his enemy? Heā€™d prefer me in prison orange.

R E V I E WThe Way I Hate Him by Meghan QuinnCan we please give a round of applause to Meghan. You did it again. I loved this book so incredibly much. I keep saying that each book I read by you is a new favorite.. but I can confidently say that this one is at the tippy top of the list! I am seriously beating myself up for not reading this sooner.I honestly don't even know how to put into words how to review this book. I experience so many emotions while reading this. I laughed. I cried. I swooned. I blushed. Good god this was so damn good. Hayes and Hattie are everything I love in a good rom com. The banter between these two were top notch. I was seriously laughing so hard I was crying sometimes. The story of these two was just so beautifully written and so well developed! I truly felt like I knew each of them. The tension, angst, frustration, and just over all feelings toward each other was perfect. Even though this story most surrounds Hattie and Hayes, the side characters and stories left me wanting more of them! I love when a book makes me fall in love with all of the characters in the book and wanting their stories. I am seriously foaming at the mouth for Maggies book. I know that one is going to be stellar! If you like-Small Town-Age Gap-Brothers Rival-Rockstar-Family healing after lossPlease read this! You will not regret it!

As a devoted reader of Meghan Quinn's work, I can confidently say that "The Way I Hate Him" has quickly become one of my all-time favorites. In fact, I loved it so much that I recently revisited the story as an audiobook. This captivating novel delivers on all the classic tropes I adore, including enemies-to-lovers, small-town charm, age-gap romance, and the allure of a rockstar lifestyle.

Hayes, is a rockstar who leads a life on the road, shrouded in loneliness and isolation. He employs every tactic at his disposal to avoid feeling and building meaningful connections with others. Despite his turbulent inner world, Hayes exudes a captivating charm, with his alluring persona and seductive dirty talk. He is a walking embodiment of sin and sexuality, evoking a powerful allure wherever he goes.

Hattie's life spirals out of control after the tragic passing of her sister and failing her final semester of graduate school. In an effort to heal, she decides to return to her family's hometown of Almond Bay. However, her fresh start becomes complicated when she is coerced into taking a job with Hayes, a renowned musician and the sworn enemy of her brother. As Hattie struggles to adjust to her new life and reconcile with her estranged siblings, she finds herself inexplicably drawn to Hayes, the one person she is supposed to hate.
In this heart-wrenching tale, Hattie must confront her deepest fears and desires as she navigates the tangled web of family, love, and betrayal.

"The Way I Hate Him," delivers everything I've come to expect from Meghan Quinnā€™s writing - sharp banter, steamy romance, and laugh-out-loud humor. The spice in chapter 20 was off-the-charts hotšŸ”„šŸ„µ! Yet, this book offers something more - a heartfelt and emotional storyline that struck a chord with me. The evolution of Hattie and Hayes's relationship was a highlight, as their journey from enemies to friends to something more was both sweet and endearing. I also found myself invested in the well-crafted cast of secondary characters, and I'm eagerly anticipating the upcoming books featuring Hattie's siblings. The audiobook, narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Vanessa Edwin, is top-notch, bringing the characters to life with humor and emotion. The duet format adds an extra layer of authenticity, making this a must-read for Quinn fans and anyone who loves a mix of sweet and steamy romance.

The family ties are well-developed, detailed, and achingly warm. The characters are witty, banter is cute and humorous. I loved the beginning. The ending though, I couldn't understand the mean, abusive words used by MMC. It seemed too out of character that after I read that part, I fell out of love with the male lead...Not even a grovel would work on me...but...he didn't even grovel.

Meghan Quinn kicks off a new small-town series with The Way I Hate Him, a brotherā€™s-former-best-friend, rock-star, age-gap, enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy. Quinn's writing is filled with humor, heart and a generous dose of steam, making for a perfect blend of romance and comedy. If you're a fan of the enemies-to-lovers trope and quirky small-town settings, this book is a not-to-be-missed, must-read. I listened to the audiobook which was narrated in dual POV by Teddy Hamilton and Vanessa Edwin. Iā€™ve listened to many audiobooks narrated by this pair, and their natural chemistry is simply incredible. Their performances were absolutely on point, and they delivered a wide range of emotions that brought both of these characters to life in my ears.

Set in Almond Bay, a charming small town full of interesting side characters including a matriarchal band of busy-body old biddies and a meddling grandmother, the story follows Hayes, a moody, broody rock star whoā€™s back in his hometown to regroup, write and spend time with his grandmother, and Hattie, the youngest sister of his ex-best-friend and the ex-girlfriend of his recently fired assistant. There was some deep emotion to wade through here for both Hattie and Hayes, and those heartstring-pulling, tender moments really balanced out the humorous ones. The witty banter and sizzling chemistry between the main characters make for an engaging read that kept me smiling, swooning and rooting for their love to triumph.

Meghan Quinn has crafted a romcom gem in The Way I Hate Him. The characters are well-developed and endearing, each with their own quirks and vulnerabilities that make them feel real and relatable, and the small-town setting added plenty of charm and depth to the story. As Hayes and Hattieā€™s animosity morphs into an irresistible attraction, I found myself completely invested in their journey and unable to put the book down. A heartwarming, funny and thoroughly entertaining enemies-to-lovers romcom, The Way I Hate Him left me with a huge smile and an unnecessary reminder of why I love Meghan Quinn's storytelling so much. Five smooches from me for The Way I Hate Him by Meghan Quinn!

I just hate that the guy is a controlling jerk to the woman he's so into. Him needing her doesn't have to mean he decides what he will and won't allow her to do. Could have been so much better if it wasn't the stereotype that the man is experienced and the woman isn't, so he is in charge.

Loved it! I loved the characters how they grow during the story but also how they fail. It was a great read. Looking forward to the side characters getting their happy ever after too.

5/5 šŸŒŸ šŸŒ¶ļø 3.5/5

Over the past years, my stance on romantic comedy has changed so much, to a point where I run away at the mention of it.

But, The Way I Hate Him is an exception to this rule! Why you may ask?

- Small town
- Age gap
- Rockstar romance
- Enemies to lovers
- Ex-boyfriendā€™s boss
- Brotherā€™s enemy
- Boss x employee

Now do I needed more reasons? Nope. I was already sold on rockstar romance.

ā€œSheā€™s made me realize what a heartbeat feels like again. A pulse. Sheā€™s made me breathe. Lifted my chin.
Opened my eyes to the world around me when Iā€™d done nothing but kept my head down since the moment my mom abandoned me.ā€

The Way I Hate Him is a delicious mix of comedy, romance and everything in between.
And I am going to say it, Hayes Farrow is officially my new favourite male character. And I donā€™t think Iā€™ll ever recover from this book. It was emotional, sexy, and such a good time.

Hattieā€™s grief over the loss of her sister (who was also a mother figure) was so raw, I could feel it.
And the way Meghan incorporated scenes with so much emotional depth in the otherwise humorous narrative of the book, made the whole reading experience extraordinary.

The chemistry between Hayes and Hattie was sizzling hot. The banter, the teasing and the spice! The spice, people! When I say you are going to learn a thing or two, trust me on this.

Loved every second of this book, even though I was not a fan of the third act breakup, I still loved it, taking it as a necessity.

Before I end this review, Iā€™d be a God damn bad person if I donā€™t mention Maggie.

ā€œMaggie: Well, depends. You can show him how much you hate him by taking your shoe off and throwing it at him.ā€

Yeah, so we need Maggie. More importantly, we need Maggie and Ryland!

I also canā€™t end this without talking about Gran and the flower scene. Nope šŸ˜

I recommend this book to each and everyone of you. Read it. Read it. Read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Meghan Quinn delivers again!!

Hayes Farrow !!! OH MY GOD <3 This might be my favourite Meghan Quinn book and since Right Man, Right Time existsā€¦ thatā€™s saying a lot! I loved every single second of reading this, it took maybe 30% for me to know this was the easiest 5 stars and a new favourite.

I am the biggest sucker for age gap romances and this one hit every spot! Hayes is so attractive, in all ways not just physically, and him as a boyfriend!! He was also just so caring, attentive and sweet in their relationship too. A hot rockstar, yes please - but a sensitive, mature, hot rockstar, one thousand yesā€™s. Oh my god, it was getting hot reading this. The spice is off the charts and probably the best Meghan has written, Iā€™m obsessed with these two. Sometimes the spicy scenes can be good but you still just want to get back to the story but hereā€¦ no no no, I couldā€™ve read many many more because I just loved them.

This book hits heavier topics than some of Meghanā€™s other books and it only made the story better, deeper and more compelling. There is so much depth and emotion to Hattie & Hayes, and her family too (who I love btw). They are so well written. I was feeling everything alongside these characters and I just wanted to give them all the biggest hug. They deserve the world.

And letā€™s talk about the duality of this book too! I was laughing actually out loud so much (especially Maggie, my girl!) but I also cried ugly tears. Meghanā€™s writing is fantastic and so evocative. Cassidyā€™s lettersā€¦ sobbing for her and Hattie Hoo and for all the Rowleyā€™s. Cannot believe I just picked this up on the off chance, I shouldā€™ve known that Miss Meghan would steal my heart once again! Also the little nod to Ollie & Silas, I loved it <3

Could not recommend more - rockstar, age-gap (12 years), small town, annoyance-to-love, boss/employee, grieving/childhood trauma, strong sibling bonds, romcom, SPICY!!! So excited to read more about this town and this family in the future.

What can I say? There wasnā€™t a single thing I didnā€™t love, the complex sibling relationships, the FABULOUS friendship between Maggie and Hattie, the charming gossipy small town, the hilarious grandmother, Hattieā€™s hurt over her sisterā€™s choices after her passing, Hayes broken heart and trust in people, their banter, THE ROMANCE šŸ˜«.

Okay this book started out good and I was loving Hayes & Hattie. They had good chemistry and the banter was very entertaining. The begining was great but I started to have mixed feelings. The last part was complicated. I felt like Hayes did not grovel enough. Overall I liked the book because the side charcters and the plot were really solid and some parts of the book made me laugh and cry. It was a good enough book but I did not like the conflict in the end.
