Amazing looking panel with some annoying bits
I've had this panel for about 2 weeks now. Coming from a pair of 24" 1080p IPS panels from 2016 this was a massive upgrade for me, so I cant really speak for this panel compared to other similar panels. With that in mind, I love this panel. I have been absolutely blown away by the true blackness of this panel, essentially, the black areas look like the thing isn't even turned on in those areas. It's crazy. For productivity it's almost like having a three-wide panel setup, because I can have windows in the center where the bezel would have been on my previous setup. Since I don't maximize windows basically ever unless it's a video, this means I can easily have my main window centered, with other windows on either side. And there is something to be said for being able to stretch a spreadsheet out to the full 32:9 if I'm working with a particularly large dataset. I've even played around with stretching my VS Code window out to make word wrapping a thing of the past. It's glorious.Games that support 32:9 (or can be forced into it using config tweaks or by using Flawless Widescreen to inject support are so much more immersive, though for the heavy hitters, even my 4080 can struggle to output enough frames, and I've found myself turning down some details to keep things around 60 fps.Video playback is great, except in situations where widescreen videos have baked in letterboxing. This has required finding solutions to zoom the video in somewhat so that I can get the full vertical capacity of the screen, but there are solutions out there. Now for the annoyances. I wish I had known about the "lower" spec version of this panel that does not include the "smart tv" stuff. There is nothing that can do that I cannot (and do not) already do with the PC it is connected to. It's a neat feature, knowing that if I wanted to I could simply take this panel, a keyboard, mouse or controller and still get access to gaming and most of the entertainment stuff I would want to have, but realistically, transporting a 32:9 panel anywhere is just not going to happen. If I want to do those things while traveling, I will simply take my laptop, so I could have saved a couple hundred bucks.Additionally, the UI is not the best. Getting to some settings requires you to first bring up the "smart" menu, then select settings, then you can either select the setting, or go to the settings and select the settings in a different way. It would have been so much nicer to just have a direct access button to the settings. Then, when you are done depending on where you are in the UI you can either simply use the back button on the remote, or sometimes that just puts you into a loop of switching between the smart menu and the smart category, and the only way to get out of that is to go to the input list and select the one you already have selected. It just adds extra actions, and again, would have been so much better to have a button that just exits the smart features directly. And then we come to the panel health features. Certainly a gladly accepted function (assuming it actually does what it says on the tin) A feature to help prevent burn in (a real concern with oled, especially when spending this much on a panel). I love the idea of a feature that will help improve the longevity. I HATE that I have zero control over it. Several times, in the middle of working, I've had this thing pop up and tell me that it will need to turn the panel off for 10 minutes. In the middle of my work day, while I'm in a teams meeting, while I'm working on code, whenever. I would REALLY like to have an option to set a specific time for this to happen, or even better, schedule a time when the panel can just shut off for an extended period of time (like when I go to bed at night) without screwing up my monitor settings in Windows, because if I just turn the panel off, suddenly all of my windows shift to other displays on my system (I've got a 24" panel to the right, and a 43" tv above). Samsung! Let me set a schedule for this health improvement feature for the love of god! Then there is the fact that after this completes and the panel turns back on, it insists on telling me that it finished, as if I can't tell because there is an image on screen. And this notification doesn't just show up for a couple seconds, I have to use the remove to tell it okay to make it go away. Does Samsung think I'm a moron? I think they do.One thing I do wish, is that this panel was available with a 1000r curve. Because it is so much larger than my previous pair of 24" panels, I actually find that the extreme sides of the panel aren't as easily readable because they aren't angled toward me as much as I had my two panels angled. The 1800r curve definitely is better than if it were flat, but I kind of feel like a 1000r curve would have made this a complete non-issue, though admittedly as the cost of desk real estate due to the panel being "deeper".This is probably a somewhat niche thing, but probably worth mentioning. I have a Tobii eye tracker. Currently I have only mounted this by using double double sided tape on the bottom of the panel. This works, but isn't the cleanest. Obviously since the panel is curved I can't mount it properly until I print out a curved adaptor for it. This isn't a deal breaker, but probably worth knowing for anyone else who has a tobii. So ultimately, this is an amazing panel that is hindered by how "smart" it isn't. I suspect that if I had gotten the non "smart" version, this would have been a 5 star review. Naturally, I will follow up on this review in the future if it blows up or whatever, or if Samsung decides to hire some actual UX people and improves things in that area.

For 899 dollars this thing was worth every single penny. It’s massive but also not too massive considering the perfect curve! Everyone keeps saying “oh my god it’s a VA panel so garbage” like this thing is beyond beautiful and those people that care if it’s VA or not are nerds. If you are leaning in this direction and are coming from a 24-27” monitor you will be mind blown by this thing! No dead pixels or anything with mine! Colors are vibrant and there are so many ways to customize it! It’s perfect for viewing videos, work, and gaming especially! I personally love that you can put multiple sources (HDMI and DP) into it and run it in multiple monitor mode! Makes work so nice :). Get this while you can on this big of a sale!

This is hands down the best monitor I have ever owned. When gaming on it, it feels like you have a VR headset without a VR headset. That is how wide the screen is. You actually have to turn your head around to look to the left or right. Superior image quality and HDR on top of it made it even better. This is a treat to have if you are thinking about getting into Super Ultrawides but you have to keep in mind that not everything support this resolution of 5160x1440p. Even some games are not supported, although, if the game is moddable, you might be able to do it. Also, a software called Flawless Widescreen supposedly makes almost any game support this resolution. You might want to do some research about that one.

Also, the monitor sometimes has a problem switching from PBP to non PBP. (Picture by Picture). This monitor is capable of splitting the screen in half and turning each side to a regular 1440p resolution. What I mean is, it'll be like having two monitors both sides with 2560x1440p at 120hz. It will not go over 120hz on that mode. But turning it back to it's full resolution will. 5160x1440p at 240hz and boy do you feel the 240hz. It's even more smoother! However if you're wanting to get it just by the hz, you're not really missing a lot. I game on 144hz all the time and going from that to 240hz is nice but that's all it was. It wasn't like jumping from 60 to 144hz amazing. It was like "Oh, that's cool!" And that's it. The real Gem, is the resolution. This monitor will pull you in the game with it's wide screen and you'll never want to leave your game.

I said earlier that the monitor sometimes has a hard time switching from PBP to Fullscreen. What I mean by that is that sometimes when you switch from PBP to Fullscreen, the monitor just stays black. So don't freak out when it does that to you, it just needs a small restart. Turning it off and back on again and it'll go back to normal. I don't know why it happens and it seems like not many people do. All you need to know is that it works fine. Now some people reported that sometimes it never turns on again and they had to return it. It could be an overheating issue, but it's kinda rare for that to happen but you might want to know that this monitor gets HOT. I'm talkin' about real hot at the back. I myself get worried if it'll overheat one day and shut down. My setup is right next to the window and and AC unit so I turn it on if I'm not liking how hot it gets. Keep in mind I had mines for a week now and it's doin' fine. Other people had it for YEARS without problems so don't just read one review like mines, keep on reading and find those who had it for a long time and go by their words. Especially if they owned it for more than at least a year. All in all, getting passed the price, this Monitor is a treat and once you have it, especially comin' from a regular monitor, you will not want to go back. Similar to jumping from 1080p to 1440p to 4k etc, from 60fps to 144fps, you simply just don't want to go back there after experiencing such a higher quality experience. That's how good it is.

I use this monitor for work and play and it has been a game changer.

You never have to use multiple monitors, buy monitor mounts, or worry about screenspace again.

I was so tired of not having available screenspace when I worked and so I bit the bullet and bought this monitor.

It's visually impressive but productively useful.

Sometimes when I play games on it the developers do not natively support ultrawide so if you are buying this as a gamer beware.

If you are like me and buying it for work, you will enjoy the experience of owning this monitor. I do graphic design, video editing, marketing, and a plethora of other tasks throughout my day and it's nice that I can keep everything where I need it on screen at all times.

If you really wanted to go overkill you could buy two of these monitors and have the ultimate setup but I can't seem why most people would need this much screen space unless they were day traders.

After only 6 months of use my monitor would no longer display anything. It would still power on (as I had somehow gotten it to play a video and could hear the audio). I called Samsung and they said that they would send someone out to pick up the monitor and transport it to a repair facility. Great! All is going well!
I should have known things wouldn't be that easy with Samsung. The next day they sent me an email with a return shipping label... I called and asked what happened to them coming out to pick up the monitor? I not longer have the box and shipping a 49" curved ultra wide monitor will be interesting. They said there must have been some miscommunication and I will have to ship the monitor to them. Ok, that's inconvenient but doable. I brought the monitor to the shipping store, ouch approximately $80 I had to pay the shipping store to package up the monitor. (KEEP YOUR BOX).
Four days later and the monitor is at the repair facility, things are going (fairly) smoothly so far. Five days later they call and advise that the unit could not be repaired and that they would need to issue a replacement. The replacement would be a refurbished unit that would have the remainder of my old monitor's warranty on it. So basically I'm getting a used monitor with (at this time) a 6 month warranty on it, not thrilled about that. I ask about just getting a store credit or refund, I'm not comfortable with a refurbished unit. They said no, this will be a brand new unit, but it will only have the remainder of your old warranty on it. I say, well I'd prefer to have a full year of warranty, so I'm still not comfortable with that, can you just keep the old unit and issue a refund. They say, no problem but we've got to ship the replacement to you before you can do anything regarding refund (weird, but ok). They say that the replacement will be shipped within 3 to 5 business days after they receive the defective unit. This is the same person that called to tell me the "defective unit" at the repair facility was unrepairable and would need to be replaced. I reminded them that the defective unit was at the repair facility and I did not have it. They re-iterated that I would need to ship them the monitor before they could ship a replacement. I re-iterated that I do not have the monitor, they have the monitor. They had to escalate the call at that point. The next person was able to understand that they had the monitor and said no problem, since we already have the monitor, we'll ship out the replacement in 3 to 5 business days.
I got busy and a couple of weeks passed by and nothing from Samsung. I called them back and they informed me that they were still waiting for me to ship them the defective unit. I reminded them that the defective unit is at the repair facility, they didn't grasp this and had to escalate the call. Well it turns out that they need the defective unit at their "main warehouse" and since it's at the repair facility, it will need to be shipped from the repair facility to their main warehouse.... I'm not happy. They're going to make sure the repair facility ships the monitor. It took TWO WEEKS to go from the repair facility to the main warehouse (from the US to the US). I call back about the same day that the monitor arrived at the main warehouse, the advise that a replacement will be shipped within 3 to 5 business days.... Seriously?
About a week later I get a text message from Samsung Transportation, "I am contacting you to verify that you have a defective Samsung monitor to pick up and we will hook up your replacement..." ARE YOU SERIOUS... I respond that there is in fact a defective monitor and that yes I am waiting on a replacement, but I do not in fact have a defective monitor in my possession, the defective monitor is in the possession of Samsung, and has been for over a month at this point. Ok, they don't know how to process this information and will need to speak with someone at Samsung....
TWO WEEKS LATER I get another text message from Samsung Transportation, We would like to schedule a time to drop off your replacement monitor TWO WEEKS FROM NOW. At this point I'm just defeated and say yea whatever get it here whenever you can.
So now that I've got the replacement monitor in my possession (didn't unbox it, I don't want a Samsung monitor anymore at this point, I REALLY don't want to go through all of this again). I called back and requested that we initiate the refund process that the technician spoke of a couple of months ago... Yea they (obviously) can't do that as there is nothing wrong with this monitor.... Great so I have a brand new, in box monitor that (because of Samsung) now only has 4 months of warranty left on it, and it's probably going to stop working in 6 months...
So I read on their Samsung Care + website that as long as the monitor is under warranty you can purchase a Samsung Care + extended warranty (at least this kicks the can down the road a little bit). I inquire about that and the tech support person advises, yes the monitor is still under warranty and that I am eligible to purchase an extended warranty (SWEET) here's the URL. I go to the URL and enter in the information.... That product is not eligible for Samsung Care + (OF COURSE). This tech support person transfers me to Samsung Care + tech support. This person (who I'm assuming Samsung issues a $0.50 microphone to) advises that the only way to purchase Samsung Care + for a monitor purchased FROM THE SAMSUNG STORE on Amazon is to purchase the extended warranty FROM THE SAMSUNG STORE on Amazon at the time of purchase (that's not what your website says). So I'm basically out of luck, thanks have a good day!
So now I have a brand new monitor, still in the box, that is going to most likely stop working in 6 months, that has 4 months of warranty on it.

I read online forums and watched all the Youtubers for 3-4 months before purchasing this monitor. My two worries were scaling applications easily like a two monitor setup, and if a 2060 video card could push hard enough to play games as 30X0 series video cards are nearly impossible to find at the time of this review. There's a downloadable app called PowerToys with a something called "Fancy Windows" that allows you to divide up the screen very easily for productivity apps and it's actually glorious for me. I have 3 apps divided up evenly on the screen and there is lots of real-estate for it at the native 5140x1440. I had thought that I would have to run the 2060 video at 1080p, but have been surprised that by turning down to medium settings in games I can 70-90 fps in top titles at the full native resolution. I know most people would prefer to see over 100 fps, including me, but whether it's g-sync or something else, it feels smooth and is truly incredible. Far Cry 5, Witcher 3, Doom Ultimate, Battlefield 4, Battle Front 2, Elder Scrolls online all look great with minimal to no stretching at the sides. Fallout 76 is a mess as it has terrible support for Ultrawide. I only had to turn one game down to 1080p and I honestly cannot really tell. RTX is unusable dropping even Quake RTX down to 13 fps but it was never a great option on a 2060 anyway. In terms of the monitor itself. HDMI sound is not working. I'm deciding if I want to try a firmware update to fix this. I'm not sure it's that important to me. HDR is great in games and most games see it and turn it on without needing to turn on the dismal Windows implementation of HDR. The colour is great and the whites are very white. I didn't know what I was missing with my old ASUS gaming monitor. I definitely recommend this to a gamer that is savvy with their tech. If you are not a tech type and are uncomfortable with changing resolution settings and fixing glitches when you change the wrong setting, you might want to wait until there is better windows and game support for these.

Bought this in March of 2024. It arrived and it was amazing. Then, in May is started blacking out. Every five minutes or so it will go completely black in the middle of the game.
Called Samsung. They told me it’s the HDMI cable. They won’t cover their own HDMI cable within warranty. So I went and bought a new one.
Same thing. Screen blacking out. Tried the monitor cable. Same issue.
Called again. They refused to take the screen for repair or assessment. I argued.
Here is the lies I was told on separate calls.
    1. We don’t have a supervisor present. You won’t be able to talk to management.
    2. We decided we will repair it. You have to take it to the authorized repair center. - I called repair center. They were very confused. Because Samsung never created a ticket.
    3. We don’t create tickets before repairs. We wait for the repair to happen then create a ticket.
    4. I personally will contact the repair center, and will email you when you can bring the monitor to them.

This is an expensive monitor. That is not going to receive any support from Samsung. If it works - great. If it doesn’t it’s an almost 2K piece of trash. I am severely disappointed in Samsung. As an Apple user this is my first experience with the brand. Safe to say it’s my last. Never going to be dealing with them again. Amazon, bless their heart have given me a return label. Sending this screen back.

Only had it for a couple of days so far, but it looks awesome. Don't have any issues with Text at the default display settings. Use it for Work and Home/Gaming. It does come with mini HDMI, but also regular HDMI and DP, but those are a little difficult to get connected due to their lateral location. It also comes with a built in USB-C Hub. Both the upstream and downstream connectors are USB-C. Gaming is beautiful on this monitor. Playing Diablo 4 doesn't use the whole screen, but enough of it that I can see the whole horizontal map, if not the full vertical dimension. Civ VI via Steam will use the whole screen and looks great as well. I thought I had an arm for it, but it turns out it was too weak for the weight of the monitor. Ended up going with a Vivo for $110 Canadian, and that is working great so far. The stand is nice too though and is very heavy duty. So far very happy with my purchase.
