***An Amazon Top 20 Bestseller***

They stole his crown. So, he stole their daughter…

For years Erik, the scarred king of the Ever Kingdom, has thought of nothing but vengeance against the man who killed his father and trapped him beneath the waves, making him a prisoner in his own realm.

Until his enemy’s daughter unintentionally breaks the chains on the Ever, and Erik makes her the unwitting pawn in his vicious game of revenge.

She’s innocent. He’s vicious. But he will take back what he lost, no matter the price.

Unless she steals his heart first.

“A tale of a serpent who befriended a songbird. A tale where they lived happily ever after, for in the girl’s version, the snake never devoured the bird.”

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Thanks to my bookstagram besties that voted for this book to be my next read.

This was my first LJ Andrews book and it did not disappoint. I was hooked right away.

The Ever King is filled with action, world-building, character development, politics, mystery, betrayal, banter, love and spice…I was truly entertained the entire time.

I just loved the interactions between Erik and Livia, from when they were little kids up to adults. Seeing their love and respect for each other grow despite their people being at war with each other for years.

Livia helps Erik see that he is worth being loved (scars and all) and Erik provides Livia with emotional support and comforts her through her times of anxiety.

Erik Bloodsinger 🥵 his possessiveness, morally grey, protectiveness is everything.

He is my new book boyfriend. A girl can have many book boyfriends right?! The way he says “Hello Love” I hear it in a British accent which give me chills. 🫠 I love a man that calls his woman “love”

Their nicknames for each other, he calls her ‘Songbird’ and she calls him ‘Serpent’

I loved how they were both possessive of each other.

The spice in this book I couldn’t get enough of. It was everything without taking away from the plot.

The side characters are great. Livia’s friends in the Earth Fae Realm. Erik’s ship crew. My favorites side characters are Celine, Sewell and Jonas

I love how LJ added Nordic mythology to her book, the hair, the clothes, the setting, the ships, the names. I completely love it.

The plot just kept picking up and I couldn’t put it down. The Ever King ends on cliffhanger and now I am diving into book 2 The Ever Queen .

All in all this book is top tier! If you love enemies to lovers, Vikings meet Fae, magic systems, morally grey characters, dual POV, this book is for you.

Beautiful writing and such intriguing characters. I love the relationships Olivia has with the other princess and princess she grew up with. The story is compelling. My only complaint, and it's just personal preference, is that the story is about yet another 19 year old virgin who saves the world. I wish authors would start making these heroines older and a little more worldly. The book itself is so good though.

Imagine being a princess and being kidnapped by the son of the king that your father killed. Add in the fact that 10 years before while he was your families prisoner of war, you visited his cell every night reading him a fairytale with a happy ending. Now add in the fact that you hate every fiber of his being, but can’t resist the pull to him.

“I’d been drawn to him, like the flow of the sea; even as a girl he’d sparked some twisted curiosity, some tug to see him. I should’ve resisted, the same way I should’ve had the strength to resist the pull to the sea now.”

Erik Bloodsinger is savage, unapologetic, and incredibly misunderstood. He’s the victim of heaps of childhood trauma and his realm is rotting in the aftermath of losing the war to the broken kingdoms. His mangled skin and fierce demeanor, scares away almost anyone in his presence.

Livia has always had a connection to the sea. She’s dreamed of adventures, while having nightmares of the young prisoner king she once read stories to. Her panic attacks as a result of being a child of war are so relatable.

LJ Andrews does a fantastic job at world building. I feel like I can hop into one of her realms and start throwing magic left and right. The way she pulls me in with her stories is truly exciting. The amount of highlights I have on my kindle is quite embarrassing. If you haven’t picked up her broken kingdoms or the ever seas, what are you waiting for?!

BRB adding morally gray pirate with deadly blood to my list of new book boyfs.

I wasn’t completely swept away by the story in the first quarter of the book, but I very quickly started to fall in love with it. The characters are well rounded and the world building is unique. I love a well written faerie book and I’m now maybe a sucker for a pirate tale too? I’m so so glad I finally picked this series up. It’s my favorite romantasy I’ve read all year!

I tend to enjoy the fantasy romance,
I found this one very readable and entertaining.

I wasn't swept away by it. The romance unfolded quickly, and while it was amusing, I didn't appreciate how everything in the main character's life was put on pause for it.
I prefer when romance is a part of and not their whole life.

If you enjoy fast paced romance, with a darker twist to it, fae with different magical powers, fights and betrayals give it a go.

Gods, I just couldn’t put this book down! The chemistry between the main characters was intoxicating, the plot was amazingly built (no filler chapters, amen). It’s hard to find such good books on kindle unlimited, so I highly recommend it to fantasy/romantasy fans. Bonus: morally grey main character + that touch of violence that keeps things interesting

5.0 out of 5 stars Una historia que engancha.
Reviewed in Spain on February 5, 2024
