my cat is pretty big - about 14 pounds and very large bone structure. he’s taller, longer and has a bigger head than most cats i’ve ever seen (and i’m a cat sitter, so i’ve seen a LOT of cats. even encountered adult maine coones that are smaller than he is 😬) so shopping for carriers for him is a nightmare. before this, i’d bought 3 different carriers - 2 were way too small for him (half of his body still hanging out even when he’s all the way inside, doesn’t zip) and the other one was a literal dog kennel. that one was the only one big enough for him, but it was also really heavy and hard for me to carry. we live in nyc so going anywhere requires taking public transit, so not the most practical to be lugging around a heavy, gigantic plastic thing around the subway station with a huge cat inside. i’ve taken him to the vet twice in that carrier and it felt like my arm was going to fall off. so i’d been looking for a different carrier that would be big enough for him but also easier for me to carry and came across this cat backpack. i’ve had this backpack for a few months now and i can safely say i love it. first, it’s a really great price as other carriers this size cost a whole lot more. not only is it large enough for my cat, it has a really sturdy bottom so even when the cat is inside and i pick the whole thing up, the bottom doesn’t end up collapsing. it’s still a little bit of a squeeze for him, when he’s sitting upright his head does get a little squished in the mesh lol but i just unzip the top and let him stick his head out. it’s also just a little too small for him to fully lie down and stretch out, but he fits just fine if he’s loafing. i like that there’s a clip on the inside so i can clip his harness to so he can’t bolt as soon as i open the carrier. i keep his leash, treats and my keys in the side pockets when i bring him outside in this. and the straps are pretty comfy, i just have to move a little more cautiously when he’s inside and i’m wearing it. i wear the backpack on my front so i can watch him look around. all in all - this is easy to carry, is a great size, looks nice, and is an amazing price without sacrificing quality! i’m very satisfied.

My dog feels incredibly secure in this carrier, to the point where he will even jump into it on his own in the car. The carrier is sturdy and it holds its shape, so it does not fold in on my dog. The discreet design has allowed me to take him to places where dogs are not typically located without drawing any attention. Most people think I’m just carrying a book bag.
The pockets allow me to carry everything my dog needs, including his travel water bottle, poop bags, treats, and more. The carrier is also very easy to clean. I have used this carrier a lot (almost daily for the first year), and it still looks practically new.
One caution I would give to others is to always double-check that each section of the carrier is properly closed. My dog once escaped because the bottom zipper was not fully closed. He jumped all the way to the ground from my back. It was absolutely terrifying and 100% my fault. And it never happened again! I still double and triple check each opening before I toss him on my back.
Overall, I highly recommend this carrier for its comfort, security, discreet design, and convenience. It has made traveling with my dog a breeze. The absolute best part is the fact that he is never nervous when he is in his carrier.
