The difference between Mineral and Standard Sunscreen

Pipette SPF50 UVA/UVB broad spectrum sunscreen protection harmful rays safe clean reef friendly

All mineral sunscreen uses zinc oxide which sits ON TOP of skin to reflect harmful rays. Although the Pipette formula rubs on smoothly with the help of super-hero ingredient SQUALANE, depending on skin color there may appear a slight difference in skin tone and mostly goes away after a few minutes.

What is the difference between a mineral sunscreen and chemical sunscreen?

What is squalane and what benefits does it add to sunscreen?

Does the zinc sunscreen leave a white cast on skin and is this because it sits on TOP of skin to reflect harmful rays?

Can you use mineral sunscreen on a baby?

How best to use sunscreen?

Pipette is gentle, 100% clean, and completely nontoxic.

I love this sunscreen!
5 out of 5 stars
I love this sunscreen!
I have pale, dry skin, and I burn easily. I wear sunscreen for preventing premature aging, so I wear this on my face, neck, and hands. I also have mild rosacea. Also, as much as I do prefer mineral sunscreens, some of the claims they make have been proven false or exaggerated. Science can't actually prove that chemical sunscreens harm coral reefs because they can't test on a large enough scale. And the claim that harmful chemicals are absorbed into the bloodstream is mostly a marketing tactic, not all sunscreen chemicals are harmful. Do your own research, and remember: the best sunscreen is the one that you will wear every day. That being said, here are my pros and cons for this sunscreen. The pros:- this is a mineral sunscreen: my face in particular can't handle chemical sunscreens- it's lightweight and easy to rub in- it doesn't burn my eyes unless I rub them and get the product in them, which is my own fault- it leaves a dewy finish. My skin is dry, so I prefer this to a matte finish- I get a tiny amount of white cast, but it goes away after it gets absorbed into the skin- it is very moisturizing, I stopped using my moisturizer in the morning when I started using this- it smells like sunscreen, but not really. And it goes away almost instantly- it's broad spectrum and SPF 50. We don't know the PPD value, but 20% zinc oxide is pretty high, and zinc oxide itself is a good sun-blocking ingredient.- the ingredients: squalene is super moisturizing, and glycerin is a good humectant. It's also fragrance-free- it's NOT water-resistant. This is a pro for me for 2 reasons. (1) some water-resistant sunscreens make my face break out and (2) I can't wash my face with a cleanser every day, so I need a sunscreen that comes off with just waterThe cons:- it feels weird on the skin before it absorbs. While squalene is very moisturizing, it has a texture and if you're sensitive then this can be a little uncomfortable for a few minutes while it absorbs.- it's also sticky while it's absorbing- if you put a full 2 fingers worth on at one time, it feels weird and heavy. I do 1 finger, let it absorb, then do another 1 fingerI work in an office, so I only apply this before I leave for work. If I'm out for the day, I re-apply every 2 hours. After the 4th or so application it does start to feel heavy, but at least I know my skin is moisturized and protected. All in all, I will be repurchasing this as long as they don't make it water-resistant. I can wear it every day, and reapply as needed with no issues.Update 5/9/2022I have repurchased this sunscreen twice now. I still love it and it's the only one I can use consistently. Another pro is that the squalane makes this a really good slip for my morning gua sha routine.

So last year I was looking for a sunscreen that wasnt toxic for me or the sea 🪸 🐟 🐠(or at least not to toxic, cause most are), one that didnt have a white cast 🤡 (especially with my makeup), and that can do the job no matter what climate I'm in ☀️.
Also my husband needed something that wouldnt burn 🔥 or irritate his eyes.

After all my research I ended up with this brand and Thrive.
Both great products but I love that Pipette didnt have much of a scent.

Not that Thrive has a bad or overwhelming scent to me, but there still a lemon-ish smell.

Pipette checked all my boxes, especially in Mexico 🥵.

My husband and I wore it everyday and still do.

I thought the bottle was to small to use on 3 adults for a whole week using it as directed especially when it comes to reapplying.

We still had a little bit left after the trip. 😁

My husband used up all the Thrive sunscreen days within the trip b/c hes very fair skin and he over does things sometimes.🤦🏽‍♀️

I dont know if Thrive sunscreen hurt his eyes but Pipette did not at all.🙅🏾‍♀️

As fair skin as he is he didnt burn the whole trip and he got a nice tan which is very hard for him since hes a burnner.

All in all this is a great product for my family 🥰 and Im looking forward to trying out their other products.

This is my 2nd or 3rd time buying it on here and the first time my package was delayed 2 days.
Just something to think about if you have a big trip coming.

I usually use Fresh Monster sunscreen on my face but wanted to try something new. I don't think this is actually SPF 50 since it has the same amount of zinc as my SPF 30 sunscreen. It feels really moisturizing and is easy to blend into my face. It does not seem to pill up like the Fresh Monster one, is easier to blend, and the white cast exists but is not too bad (I usually combine my sunscreen with bronzer or something tinted to combat white cast anyway). The finish is pretty shiny, but whatever. The ingredients are slightly more concerning on the Pipette one than Fresh Monster. But I think I might switch to Pipette anyway, since it applies better and it is cheaper. If only Pipette would come out with a tinted version, I would be in sunscreen heaven.

I started really looking this sunscreen. In fact I bought two bottles. I used the first one up without issues, then bought the second one, 4-6 months later. It was fine for a while. I stopped using it for a period of time during winter, and later when I started up again i had a horrible allergic reaction. I was using other skincare products at the time so I didn’t actually know it was the sunscreen, and it was one of the last things i tried filtering out of my routine because I thought surely this can’t be it, I’ve used it so much before. My entire face and neck would get red and swollen and itchy and then very very dry. I actually had to buy vaseline and antihistamine cream just to try to mitigate the damage. It was really bad. So I don’t know if it was just due to the age of the product, from sitting on my shelf untouched for several months, or if I developed some allergy over time, but I will say i has also purchased a bottle of blue lizard around the same time and a year later that one was still fine while this one felt like it was trying to fill me. So just be careful, I would recommend doing patch testing before each season of using this especially if you’re using it on children and ESPECIALLY on the face and throat area, because it caused a lot of swelling.

I am very happy i found this Mineral SPF. After finding out i am pregnant I had to change a lot of my cosmetics and I was struggling to find a good sunscreen that doesn't make my makeup look cakey. It is light-weigh and can look a bit oily on it’s own but it performs great under makeup, I highly recommend it if you are looking for pure mineral SPF that is safe during pregnancy and for your baby.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight and easy to blend
Reviewed in the United Arab Emirates on July 18, 2022

I haven't tried this out in the sun yet but first impressions, the formula feels like a moisturizer on the skin and when you blend it in, it has a minimal white cast (I'm quite pale though so I'm not sure how it'll be on darker skin tones). This also pairs nicely under makeup so that's a big plus.

The only thing I'm concerned about is the that package arrived very hot to the touch (almost like the formula was boiled) and it was even sloshing around in the container when I shake it. I put it in the fridge for a while and I guess it turned back to normal. I opened it after it cooled down and the formula didn't appear to be separated or damaged so perhaps the hot temperature was just a temporary thing. However, I'm kind of worried about the shelf storage conditions because sunscreens in particular can degrade in high temperatures and lose their efficiency against the sun rays.

Aside from that, everything else about the product seemed fine, it felt great on the skin and it had no unpleasant smell. I wish it was water resistant though because I would like to wear it to the beach but I'm not sure it'll be safe to use there.

Edit: I wore it outside and it felt great! It was a bit greasy feeling at first but after half an hour it settled down and gave me a beautiful subtle glowing look. I have dry to normal skin and this made my dry areas look incredibly smooth. So far I'm very satisfied with this product and I'll definitely purchase it again in the future.(I also made my younger sister try it and she loved it as well despite being quite picky about product textures.)
