Heart Rate — the Easy, Accurate Way

This premium heart rate strap transmits real-time heart rate data over ANT+ connectivity and other technology, giving you more training options. Consistently receive accurate heart rate on your compatible Garmin device, in online training apps such as Zwift or even the compatible fitness equipment at the gym.

Track Running Dynamics

In addition to heart rate, HRM-Pro captures running dynamics that can help you improve your form. That includes metrics such as vertical oscillation, ground contact time, stride length, vertical ratio and more.

HRM-Pro

Store and Forward Your Data

The device stores heart rate data during swimming or other activities while your watch is out of range, then sends that data to your watch once the activity is finished. It will also store steps, calories and intensity minutes, then sync them to your watch as well.

Comfort and Convenience

HRM-Pro features a small, lightweight heart rate monitoring module that is no wider than the width of the soft, comfortable strap. And don’t worry about running out of juice. The user-replaceable coin cell battery lasts for up to one year.

Featuring dual transmission, the HRM-Pro premium chest strap lets you share accurate heart rate data with your Garmin device, compatible fitness equipment and third-party training apps, such as Zwift. It also helps you improve your running form by providing running dynamics, including vertical oscillation, ground contact time, stride length and more. HRM-Pro stores heart rate data when you hit the water then automatically sends it to your device after your swim. During team sports, it also monitors steps, calories and intensity minutes then syncs with your Garmin watch. Go on, and push your performance to the next level while wearing one of our most comfortable heart rate straps yet — with a battery you won’t need to replace for up to one year.

Updated: Died after ~18mo of daily use. Be careful with battery changes.
Update (8/22): Contacted Garmin Support dept and they replaced the HRM-pro for free. Explained what happened and provided proof of purchase (~6mo outside factory warranty period) and they sent a link for a no-charge order for a new unit. Upgraded to 5 stars for the customer service.Original review (~6/22): I'm a garmin fr935 watch user and avid runner. I bought this as a better & more reliable means of tracking HR than the ohr/optical sensor on the forerunner series. The watch based ohr readings would fluctuate based on watch band tightness, wrist location, and weather (skin temperature?).This hrm-pro was much more reliable with the added bonus of the running dynamics metrics. I wore this pretty much daily since Feb '21 for ~1hr/day. The Connect app battery meter for this was a joke and I never saw it go lower than 100% full. I read about the battery change process potentially leading to early failures but thought I was pretty careful in the process. I changed the battery on this ~3-4 times since new but the last time was likely the killer.A small crack developed on the base plastic near one of the screw mounting points that must have caused a leak. Washed it recently, let it dry then no more pairing. Opened it up and noticed condensation in the battery compartment so decided that it was terminal enough to do "major" surgery to investigate. The pictures tell the story: water got in behind the main board and shorted out some components. Maybe if I washed this without the battery in (cover on) and then let it dry out I could have got a few more months out of it? This seems to be a pretty common problem with these series of garmin hrm units (pro, tri, run, etc) so buyer beware.

Ordered this on a pinch before an Ironman last year. So far I’ve been running this HRM for almost 14 months for all of my cycling and running (approximately 330 hours of use). I only use it for my swims on races (2x70.3 and 1 sprint so far). I have only had to change the battery one time in the time I’ve owned it. Data seems very accurate and the strap is comfortable and holds up. I even throw this thing in the wash with my bike clothes on occasion, and haven’t had any issue (this is not recommended by the manufacturer, but I found it easier). The elastic material seems to be fatiguing slightly on the sides, as it seems creased, but all functions well. I admittedly don't take very good care of this HRM, but it has held up and has been bullet proof to me. My only gripe is that I can’t replace the strap; but I think I have plenty of life left. When it needs to be replaced I will definitely commit to the newer model with the replaceable strap.

Spoke with Garmin support and they are sending me a new one since this one stopped working.

I have several HR straps, and the Garmin is great when used with Garmin devices. Like the Polar H10, it has great HR accuracy, supports HRV RR.
The Garmin strap has also several features specific to Garmin devices: you can wear it instead of the watch to record your HR, and have synced to the watch later. You can start an activity, take the watch off, and then download the HR to the watch later (useful when the activity makes it cumbersome to wear a watch - think martial arts, for example). The strap also sends running power and pace to the watch, as well as running dynamics. Among the running dynamics features, I found the left/right ground contact balance very useful.
There are 3 drawbacks in my experience, compared with the Polar H10:
    - calibrating the strap for pace is not easy, and I didn't manage to do it properly yet. The process works, but when I run again on the same treadmill, the distance is still significantly off, despite the GPS automatic calibration done when running outside, and doing a manual calibration.
    - the garmin strap is not as practical. You cannot change it separately. It doesn't stick as well to the skin as the Polar H10. Finally, the closing system is an open hook. When you adjust it after it slipped, it can get completely loose. A mess if you are exercising...
    - changing the battery is not easy. You can easily damage the o-ring and the strap will deteriorate very fast. Note that this issue has been address with the HRM-Pro Plus, the newer model.
When the strap wears out, I doubt I will replace it. I know I will forego some excellent integration with the garmin watches.

I've been struggling with different heart rate monitors for a long time. I've been trying a few different models and brands, from the basic Garmin HRM, then the Wahoo TICKR, now finally this one. This thing is flawless. It connects perfectly every time to my head unit, to my Apple TV for Zwift or to my computer for Trainer Road. I've never had a hiccup and the battery life seems to be fantastic. I'm finally happy with a HRM and know I can rely on it to work when I need it. From what I can tell it's absolutely worth the increased cost as the product is MILES better than anything else I've used. This is the one.
