The blocks have the correct firmness for "sits bones", just enough texture to not slide on smooth surfaces, though I kept the cellophane wrap on mine at first when I was attending a public class, for sanitation.
The blocks serve double duty for me at home, where I have a stool that's too tall for my legs. Now I can sit there comfortably without my legs dangling. Lots of other uses, even for the well made strap included. A worthwhile buy!
