I had a cheaper scale that endlessly frustrated me, this one doesn’t. If you think it’s too expensive wait for a sale or buy something else. What I like about this is it isn’t just a pane of glass, there’s actual buttons so you know when you’re pushing something. I've had other electronic food scales and enjoyed them at the time as they were better than the mechanical scales I had used in the past. I needed to make the move to electronic for measuring coffee beans and grounds when brewing as the mechanical scales just weren't accurate enough. But I ran into problems when using larger containers to measure in, as they blocked the view of the scale. Beyond coffee, I had started measuring recipe ingredients by weight instead of volume, and also had taken to buying larger amounts or cuts of meat, dividing them and vacuum sealing and freezing for subsequent meals. My old scale wasn't doing the job anymore. The Oxo with its pull-out controls and display was just what I needed - and I ordered it when the last scale bit the dust. The pull-out display is perfect - now it's perfectly practical to use a larger container when needed, and I can still hit the zero (tare) button and read the display. It reads quickly and accurately, and the display is easily readable. I also love the construction - this feels like a pro quality unit sitting in my kitchen. The only potential downside is the size: it's larger than my last digital scale - be sure to compare the measurements to the place you plan to store the scale. It's perhaps 1 to 2 inches larger in width and length than a lot of the other generic digital food scales. As long as you're aware of the size and it's not a problem, this is a fantastic product.

I cook with this scale constantly day in and day out as I prefer to measure quantities by mass instead of volume as it is quicker, more accurate, and more precise (i.e., reproducible). I have been using the scale since January, 2016. It is still going strong.

I like the fact that it has 1) a pull out readout, 2) an 11Kg capacity, and 3) long battery life.

The pullout readout alone makes this scale worth more than any other digital scale in its class. When weighing something in say a large pot, being able to pull the readout away from the scale body makes all the difference.

11 Kg (24 lbs 4 oz) is very handy as well. Even better is the fact that even at an 11 Kg capacity the scale resolution is 1 g! In spite of this 11Kg max weight limit, I sometimes need more than this in terms of capacity, but not too often. And all of this in a reasonable footprint to boot.

I use the scale (without the backlight) many, many times a day. Batteries generally last for more than a month and are quickly changed with need be.

My scale does have one annoying habit, which is not a show stopper. Most of the time, when it is turned on, it registers 1g and not 0g. It requires a second press of the tare button to get it to zero out. When I first received the scale more than seven years ago now, it reliably always turned on with zero showing. Somewhen along the way, it started showing a 1g reading most often on turn-on. After 7 years of constant use, the plastic cover on the tare button is beginning to be rough and frayed, and the deck plate isn't as shiny as it once was, but we keep the unit clean and it has given no trouble.

I like this scale so much, that I have gifted this model to family members several times now.

I no longer have the sheet that came with the scale, and even if I did, there is one function that is not well explained. That is the tare and the auto shutoff.

One needs to understand the memory function on automatic shut off (after 6 minutes). It retains the last tared weight in memory. After 30 minutes that memory will be lost.

Assuming that you had tared something, and left the unit until it shut off, if one presses the "on" button with nothing on the bed, it will remember the last tare, which will appear as a negative number.

If, however, one has something on the bed and it has been more than 6 minutes after auto shut off, but less than 30 minutes, pressing the "On" switch will cause the scale to read 0 and the previous tare weight will be lost or replaced.

In other words, the unit will still be in tare mode on restart after an auto shutoff. Start it with nothing on the bed, and one can see the last tare if it has been less than 30 minutes since auto shutoff. Start it with something on the bed and the unit will be in tare mode and display zero.

Exactly as advertised. Arrived promptly. With the pull-out window, it allows you to weigh food in it's bowl or on a platter, or other larger items and see the weight easily and clearly. Switch between pounds/ounces or grams/kilograms for complete recipe accuracy. Pull off scale plate makes cleaning a breeze. A little pricier than others, but well worth the investment. Looking forward to using it for years to come.

It's a little big, but that's the point of being able to put the big plates on it and pull out the screen. I just have a small kitchen so it's a little annoying to store -- but it works great, the accuracy of it seems good (we tested with coins) and the pull out screen works, makes it so easy to see and tare as you're adding food. The best kitchen scale I've ever had

I've found that the scale works well and is easy to read with only two buttons the scale is very simple to understand. The digital display is clear and being able to pull it out when measuring using large bowls is a great feature that I find myself using quite often. I personally wouldn't purchase it at the full price as it is quite expensive but I managed to get it on sale for significantly less.

Veel keukenweegschalen versleten en spijt dat ik deze niet direct heb kunnen kopen (niet leverbaar). Het is een degelijk apparaat. Het weegplateau is te verwijderen om schoon te maken. Het uitleesvenster is uittrekbaar opdat ook bij bredere schalen het display te lezen is. Het display is niet ver uit te trekken, maar tot nog toe afdoende gebleken. Wat ook prettig is, is dat hij niet te snel uitgaat op die manier verlies je geen info tijdens diverse metingen. Kortom niet goedkoop maar zijn geld zeker waard.
