I bought this stand to replace one of those plastic pieces of junk that crack. This one is for tree's up to 12 feet tall. Well, I have a 12 footer in it right now (first time use) and have had no issues. All you have to do is use a rubber mallet and tap the bottom of the stand so the dual spikes sink into the trunk, then tighten the 4 eye bolts snug and straight. You have to slide in the 4 legs into the main base and tighten the provided bolts/nuts for each leg. You can either put all 4 legs in right away and then lift the tree up, or, just put two in and then stand the tree up. Have someone hold the tree and put in the other two legs if you choose this route. I put all 4 legs in, tightened them and then lifted the tree without issue.

A couple more observations. The threaded nuts that the 4 eye bolts screw into are welded to the center ring where the trunk sits. The nuts on the ends of the eye bolts that press against the tree trunk as you tighten are also crimped onto the ends of the eye bolts so they won't come off or stay on the tree trunk when you back out the eye bolts and take your tree down. The stand is powder coated, but to make it last even longer, and prevent any potential leak, I bought a spray can of flex seal liquid rubber and applied several coats to the inside of the ring where the tree trunk sits all the way around it, the welded nuts, and up to the top of the ring inside. I covered the eye bolts/nuts with paper and masked off the other areas which worked pretty good. I read some reviews on here that the stand leaks, but, it is fully welded all the way around (in China but still looks pretty decent). When you fill it up with water, just make sure you don't fill above the welded nuts where the eye bolts come through and it won't leak. Mine doesn't leak a drop. Be mindful of that and yours won't leak either. My only gripe is that it doesn't hold very much water. Just under one gallon so I have to check my tree everyday. Other than that, this stand is well worth the money and you should get many years out of it.

You hate those awful stands in the stores, right? They are unstable, don't hold enough water, and the stupid plastic threads on the screws get stripped way too fast. You bought at least three of them and then screamed as the last one hit the bottom of the trash can as you explained very non-Christmassy words that you hoped your daughter didn't hear.

This brought you here, knowing all stands are crap and your search for the holy grail of stands would surely fail.

This is the tree stand you want. We bought ours in 2017 and it is what a stand should be. It's all-metal, no plastic anywhere, and it feels heavy and solid. I think in-between welding helicopter blades they do a few tree stands. The feet are properly designed to lay flat so your tree never falls over. Let the cat climb it; the stand will win. Unless you have a bobcat, then you have bigger problems. It holds a lot of water and isn't hard to fill. You can put a nice big trunk into it (I know, those bulky knobby bases have troubled you - no more) and it's really easy to get the tree to be verticle.

Edit: In 2023 it’s still just as good. I think the house could burn down and you could pull it from the ashes intact.

Having owned "the Last Christmas Tree Stand You'll Ever buy" (a different brand painted steel stand) prior to this, I cannot say this stand will last a "lifetime". However, it should last a VERY long time. Figure 10 + years or more. This stand is powered coated, so it has the potential of lasting longer than the last one I had (which did rust over time). In truth the only reason I replaced the last one, which I owned for 14 years is my wife bent the legs when her car rollied over them in my garage. This brings me to another plus with this stand....the legs are removable, making the stand easy to store. One thing I did notice....the nuts and bolts do secure the legs on the bottom of the stand, but even when I tighten them down there's still a little play between the brackets and legs. I don't think this will be a problem though, since it's only a small amount of play and the weight of the tree should keep it from moving.

Finally replaced an old tree stand after 30 years. We've switched in recent years to buying Noble firs which typically are heavier and have bigger trunks than other varieties. Our 7 foot Noble fit perfectly in the Goliath. I really like the design of the stand legs being flush with the floor rather than raised as our old stand was. The four tree supports within the water reservoir are extremely sturdy and fully secure the tree. Adjusting the tree to stand straight was not difficult at all. The stand is very easy to assemble, the water capacity is terrific (it kept the tree well watered and did not need refilling nearly as often as the old stand. After a month of use, the stand cleaned up well and the finish wasn't impacted by the tree sap at all. Still looks as good as new. I'd recommend this stand as a good investment for many years of use!
