Why does Crayola have to be more pricy than other brands? But I trust Crayola and won’t not buy another brand.
Issues:
1) Shape makes them harder to hold.
My little guy has trouble holding these at 18 months old and he is an average-sized kid, right around 50 percentile for everything. He gets frustrated with them quickly (I think due to their size) and gets more enjoyment out of dumping them onto the floor. Due to their shape, the eggs roll everywhere and guess who has to go find them all!
2) Breakable and easily chipped.
Sadly after a couple of dumping experiences onto a hardwood floor, several of the crayons have broken or chipped off chunks, which is not safe when one's toddler eagerly puts things in his mouth.
On the positive side, my son had no trouble making marks with them. Granted he was just swiping at the page but was amazed each time that he left a line. I had more trouble trying to make defined lines and shapes with my adult hands and trying to be precise (which doesn't work with egg-shaped crayons).
Bottom line: I probably am going to set these aside and see if they might work again when he's a bit older. However, I may try some stick-shaped crayons in the meantime.
