Product Description

The epitome of style, Travelpro Platinum Magna 2 luxury performance luggage is crafted with premium, ultra-durable fabrics and intelligent design innovations, making it ideal for business travel and personal trips. This checked suiter bag is our largest size, but it’s still easy to maneuver through the airport with eight MagnaTrac self-aligning wheels that provide effortless 360-degree rolling whether you’re arriving or departing. The large capacity ensures there is room to pack everything you need for longer trips or multiple people, and the bag can be expanded incrementally up to two inches for even more storage. The upright suitcase also features a patented telescoping handle that extends to three lengths: 38-in., 40-in., and 42.5-in. Other features include a cushioned Contour Grip for comfort and control, damage-resistant SUPRA zipper heads, a deluxe suiter to keep suits and dresses wrinkle-free, and a deluxe tie-down system with built-in accessory pockets to keep your clothing, shoes, and personal items neat and organized. The high-quality ballistic nylon fabric features DuraGuard coating to help protect against stains and abrasions due to airline handling. Backed by the Travelpro comprehensive warranty, you can travel worry-free knowing you’re protected against airline damage and defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the bag. Exterior: 100% nylon. Lining: 100% polyester. Imported.

I now own two of these and have used one pretty extensively. I love the bag. Unlike some of the reviews, I have not had any problems with the zippers, nor have I had any problems with it being too big for the airlines. Having said that, because it has so much space, if you fill it full of stuff you are likely to be over the 50 pound limit that's afforded for most domestic USA flights. Sometimes when I get to my destination, I will actually stuff a smaller bag in this one that would put it over 50 pounds but by that time I'm already at my destination and the bag wheels so easily that it makes it easier to carry more stuff at one time. I also sometimes throw my backpack on the top and threaded around the handle and roll it on there as well. The sides of the bag or a little bit flimsy, but if they were more firm my guess is the bag itself with way more. As it is, the empty bag is very light given its size and bulk.

We are big Travelpro fans so when it came time to order a larger bag for trips when we check this one was a no brainer. I like the higher quality look and feel of this platinum line but pretty much anything Travelpro is bulletproof. The bag is surprisingly light for it’s size. It rolls really well even when we have it maxed out at 59 lbs. The included trifold suit/dress zip on attachment turns it into a solid garment bag with a ton of space for everything else.

I travel almost every week. I purchased this bag a year ago to replace an ancient suitcase I still had from my youth. The new bag has served me well with only a couple of exceptions. There is a skid plate on the back that protects the bag when it is pulled over a curb. The stitching came out of the upper half of the plastic plate. I restitched it by hand which was not easy! Now the main compartment zipper is separating from it's backing on one of the corners. It is very difficult to unzip if the bag is laying on it's back. I'm not sure if I can repair this one.
Overall it is a good sturdy bag. Airlines hate these big bags which is evident by the way they throw them on to the conveyors. I think I will downsize a bit for the next one.

Feels really high quality -- a pleasure and a luxury to use. It will roll well on just about anything, even carpet. It feels good to have something you know you won't have to replace for like 10 years. I should perhaps have gotten the smaller one. Given its weight, it's easy to break the weight limit. Thinking of buying another one when I want to splurge again.

After many years of travel we decided to spend more money to purchase a top of the line bag so we ended up with this TravelPro bag. After one trip the entire outside zipper was ripped off! We didn't immediately notice this after our trip so the airlines will certainly not cover this. We have traveled on many many trips with different types of luggae and this has never happened before. Very disappointed with the quality of this bag.

This suitcase was pretty great. I fit a smaller suitcase, plus clothing for 2 weeks inside of it, with 2 dress shirts and slacks in the in-luggage garment bag.

In that trip, it went on 7 planes, 3 trains, and countless car rides. Pretty good trial by fire, since on the way home, 8 unpacked the other much smaller suitcase, and used that to hold dirty clothes (using the now empty space to bring back souvenirs--snacks, mostly). The older bag was crushed and shattered on the return flight, but this new suitcase doesn't even have a scratch.

I might now buy their smaller carry-on size.

I orderd the wrong size, but return was extremely easy & now I have the correct size - this one is too big to fit in our car trunk if we had two of them, so we went for one size down. Beautifully made, good price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great suitcase...but it's huge, I mean really big.

This suitcase is very well built, exactly what we've come to expect from TravelPro. However, it's so large that we've had to return it and order the 25" spinner.
If you need a giant suitcase, this is the one for you.
