Have now used the can opener many times and it is perhaps the easiest not only to use, but the cleaning is a cinch. Once a can is latched into the mechanism it cuts around the can and them automatically stops when it is finished. The cutting mechanism is easily removable each time for cleaning which is a step up from most can openers where it is impossible to get through the crevices of the cutting area to ensure proper cleaning. This is the best can opener I have ever had in many, many decades, and recommend it very highly.

I was researching all the current top rated can openers for a couple weeks prior to purchasing this one; as the one I have owned for many of years was nearing the end of life. I am not at all some fancy name brand snob with items such as this. I actually couldn’t tell you a single brand name of an electric can open prior to buying this one. The only requirements I knew for sure is that I needed it to be an electric one and silver or stainless steel in appearance. I only researched what amazon offered and eventually narrowed it down to this exact one. I did this because it met my two requirements, had above average rating and reviews, and was very affordable for me. I have been using now for a few weeks regularly and overall still pleased with it. The size is compact to leave on kitchen countertop, simple to use, easy to clean, and also age appropriate older child (teenage age for us) easily understandable to use safely. The blade’s sharpness appears average; I haven’t noticed any issue. Most importantly it opens cans smoothly with minimal noise. I never realized how loud my old can opener was until using this one that is smooth and soft when in use. I am confident in this being a durable choice that will last; however, I would have liked this to be less of a lightweight option as I enjoy having a heavy duty weight opener. This wasn’t a deal breaker and I am over happy with my purchase.

I purchase many Cuisinart products because of their reputation for quality and my personal experience with them. I had read some critical reviews about how this opener had a very weak and flimsy plastic handle press. I took a chance and ordered it anyhow. Yes the handle is plastic, but I have had absolutely no problem with it. I have had this unit now since August of 2022, and used it many times. I guess if you press down on it unnecessarily hard, it might break, but I have never had to do that to get it engaged to open a can. I have opened small, medium and large cans without any issues. The blade easily removes for quick and simple cleanup, too. It has performed flawlessly since I have owned it. Like most small appliances this is manufactured in China and because of that I believe there has been some degradation in Cusinnart's overall quality in their products, butI can still recommend it.
