I stuck them on the bottom of wood legs on a chest of drawers and slid it across the wood floor and not a single pad came off. I bought these for my college desk chair which is made of very heavy wood and is probably decades old. The felt pads stuck firmly to the chair legs and didn't fall off over the entire year, and I spent a LOT of time at my desk moving the chair in and out. They wore down a little by the end of the year, especially on the back legs of the chair, but that was to be expected and the pack was so big I had no problem replacing them. The pack will last you a really long time and the different sizes are really helpful and can be easily cut down to fit a custom size. The pads do collect hairballs and dust which was annoying for me but not difficult to pick off periodically.
