Boring, overwhelming and effective
Facial scrubs / exfoliators are roughly divided in to 3 categories recently.1. Kaolin (bentonite) along with some solid material (apricot seed powder, microcrystalline or coffee powder, you name it) that works as mechanical dermabrasion agents2. Korean style, cellulose based exfoliator, that detaches dead skin while cellulose coagulating3. Chemical - the most effective and mainstream uses acids to peel off the dead skin - glycolic (AHA), salicylic(BHA), PHA, kojic, Mandelic..So this product falls into the 1st category and interestingly, most of the American facial scrub falls into this category. Okay, here is what I think.Ingredients:As I mentioned, it uses kaolin + apricot seed powder as dermabrasion agent, and many plant extracts / oils were added. It also contains potassium cocoate as surfactant seemingly enhancing washing & cleansing effect of this product. It doesn't have particularly harmful ingredients but it used phenoxyethanol as main preservative. It doesn't bother me at all but be aware of it, if it concerns you. It does contain quite a bit of natural oils (sunflower, safflower, jojoba esthers), please check out the ingredients before you buy, if you are frequently allergic to flowers and plants. (Yet, natural ingredients are pretty common ones as rosemary/lavender/asparagus etc.)Texture:It has very conventional clay + seed based scrub - as non thick creamy texture. It does glid on the skin very well and apricot seed powder is not too much irritating while rolling. I am not sure this is a really good product for the sensitive skin though, so if you easily get irritated, I would go to gentler cellulose type exfoliators.Scent:Okay, this is where one star was off. It has completely overwhelming scent - and it stays after wash as well. It smells identical to Dickinson's witch hazel toner, so if you like it, it doesn't matter but it is just not my cup of tea. So it is NOT fragrance free and it doesn't smell very joyful.Effectiveness:It does what it is supposed to do. It removes thin layer of dead skin, makes your skin smoother by subtly removing unevenness. It doesn't over-dry skin either, due to some lipid based ingredients, so if you love refreshing feeling, then you probably have to use foam cleanser separately.Buy it if you : don't have particle based, dermabrasion type of scrub under $10Don't if you : prefer fragrance free, gentle cleanser and have sensitive skin

This exfoliating scrub is great! Really good grit and leaves skin smooth. HOWEVER, I have attempted to reorder the exfoliating scrub three times and Amazon has sent the wrong item (Charcoal scrub) each time. One of the three returns I requested a replacement/return and the replacement sent was WRONG! The exact same item I returned… I typically do not write reviews, but do better Amazon/wild mountain. Do better… I understand if one or the other is out of stock. Simply do not make it selectable to buy.

The ingredients list is outrageous. I should've checked before buying. Too many sodiums & phosphate preservatives in these products. You just keep layering these chemicals that are bad for our health.
Outside of that major issue. I notice my face itches mildly after use. There's no rash. My skin actually looks and feels great. But it itches... not terribly but it's kind of persistent. Though it has the best physical result on my skins appearance. There's too much going on in the ingredients list and my itchy skin is telling me it's probably not the greatest product for me.
