Seed Needs never knowingly purchases treated seeds products. We also do not treat any of our seed products with substances such as neonicotinoid or thyram. |
Always fresh and intended for the current and following growing seasons. Seeds are packaged in water resistant / tear resistant packaging. |
Heirlooms are varieties that have been purposely bred, selected and passed down from generation to generation. They are wholesome picks that will breed true to the parent seed every time. |
Flowers will attract all sorts of beneficial insects to the garden, such as butterflies, bumblebees, honeybees and ladybugs. |
Grow a garden filled with Dwarf Sunspot Sunflowers, from freshly harvested Helianthus annuus flower seeds. Dwarf Sunspot produces beautiful, medium sized, yellow blooms with golden brown centers. They grow to a mature height of roughly 1 to 2 feet tall. Grown as an annual flowering plant, the Dwarf Sunspot Sunflower will grow quickly, bloom profusely through the summer months and later die with the first frost.
Sunflowers are among one of the easiest plants to establish from fresh flower seeds. They don’t take very long to germinate, need little to no care, and aren’t too picky on soil conditions. Dwarf Sunspot Sunflowers make an excellent cut flower for bouquets and floral arrangements as well. Grow Sunflowers along borders & fences or in flower beds as a background plant. For a splash of autumn colors, take a look at some of the many other varieties of sunflowers we have to offer, including some of our hybrid varieties such as “Cherry Rose” or “Firecracker.”

Sowing The SeedSunflowers are not particularly fond of being transplanted, but if started indoors, sow in peat pots, 6 to 8 weeks prior to the last frost. Sow at a depth of 1/2” under topsoil. Transplant entire pots into the garden, or direct sow when the weather is warm and all danger of frost has passed. Stakes may be necessary to support your Sunflowers, only until the stems become stronger enough to stand on their own. |
Growing ConditionsSunflowers grow long taproots and may rot if the roots become waterlogged. It is recommended to check your sowing area for hard, compacted soil prior to sowing. Renew any hard, compacted soil with a mixture of compost. Sunflowers will enjoy an area of full sunlight for the majority of the day and should be watered daily so that the soil is kept moist until germination has occurred. |
Germination & GrowthYour sunflower seeds will begin to germinate within 7 to 10 days after sowing. Plants will grow to a mature height of 1 to 2 feet tall. Space your seeds about 6 to 12 inches apart from one another. Sunspot will produce beautiful, bright yellow blooms with golden brown centers. |

I planted 20 seeds and 19 plants came up. All of the little shoots looks healthy and strong. I am looking forward to a beautiful sunflower picket around my garden to attract pollinators and spread joy.
These seeds were more costly than at my garden store, but I am okay with that since I am not planting acres of them and the quality has shown (via germination rate) to be top notch thus far.
Best!
