As an Anaheim resident, Bruno is a household name. His restaurant, The Anaheim White House, is the kind of place most people only dream of going to. It wasn't until my best friend took me for my birthday that I learned what Bruno does for the Motel Kids in town. He came to our table and talked with us, took photos with us and I just thought he was a wonderful person. However, it wasn't until I read this book that I saw the magnitude of the power of a little kindness. Bruno's story, from the time he was born, to the passion his mother instilled in her children, to her passing and up to the tragic fire that burned his fabulous restaurant, covers every emotion we can ever imagine. But what amazes me through it all is his loving attitude, never quitting in the face of adversity, but instead growing. He doesn't just show us how his mother made a difference, or how he made a difference, but he shows us how we can ALL make a difference. It isn't just Anaheim anymore, he is feeding kids all over the world! But this book is even more than that. You just have to read it. I promise you will love it. You will love Bruno. It will change your outlook on life. And buying this book will provide funds to feed even more kids!

There are SO MANY life lessons here in Bruno's book, so much inspiration to draw on from his life experiences. One of the take aways for ME was in a quote from Leonardo Da Vinci that Bruno started off chapter 9 with: "Being willing is not enough; we must do." The entire book reinforces the message that it is ACTIONS, not words, that puts food in the belly of hungry children every night. It was Mama Caterina's ACTIONS, not words, that modeled the compassionate behavior that lives on in her son and drives him to expand the great work of Caterina's Club. That he finishes off the book with phenomenal pictures and recipes from some of his best White House dishes is icing on the proverbial cake. This book is a great read. It's interesting, it's inspiring, and I cried much of the way through it because I was so very touched by this wonderful man's words. Just read it, you'll be glad you did.
