I'm an independent and usually don't vote GOP because of the platform. However, regardless of your political persuasion, this book is a klaxon call. It's not about Red or Blue, its about whether we will have a Republic based on law and constitutional principles or one based on something else. Liz Cheney has impeccable conservative credentials and I highly recommend you listen to what she articulates in this book. She was there on January 6, she was in the mix, and we hope her voice is not drowned out in the noise...IMHO, It is ALL about oaths and honor.

There was a time when I could never envision myself buying a book by Liz Cheney. We are polar opposites politically. No longer does any of that matter. What matters: integrity, character, honesty, courage. Liz Cheney has all of these qualities in abundance, demonstrated in this book and her bold, remarkable leadership of the Jan. 6th Committee! This book is a gem - a valuable resource that is comprehensive and superbly written. I'm a long way from Wyoming, but I hope that Liz runs for national office sometime in the future. Ms. Cheney has written a readable, honest book about the January 6 Committee and their investigation and documentation of what TFG did in the months before, during and after the Capitol attack.
She calls out those that are failing to follow their oath to the Constitution and the country and commends those who are working to “right the ship”.
She is truly a rational Reagan Republican who follows her conscience and not her pocket book or has the lust for power that infects so many of her colleagues. I’m amazed that so many in Congress entered from “humble” beginnings yet are now millionaires on salaries less than $200,000 annually. It’s the same old story getting out of hand, money and perceived power are driving the republic off the rails.
This is truly the test of our time; TFG cannot be allowed to have any public office or power over one. The last half of the twentieth century was known as the American Century or Pax Americana.
After all of the blood, treasure and struggle to keep the country together, it will be an existential tragedy if one selfish, shallow and idiotic man is allowed to destroy our democracy.
Ms. Cheney states the case simply and seriously- this part of history cannot be allowed to repeat.

Bien que certains puissent trouver le récit de Mme Cheney partisan, compte tenu de sa position et de son expérience, ce parti pris est quelque peu inévitable : après tout, c'est une républicaine ! Elle a indiqué qu'elle ferait tout ce qu'il faut pour empêcher Trump de redevenir président. Elle a exprimé sa volonté d'appuyer et de soutenir les candidats qui partagent son engagement à défendre les principes démocratiques et à empêcher le retour de Trump au pouvoir. Je sais, en lisant ce livre, qu'elle a voté pour des démocrates dans le passé : le fera-t-elle à nouveau puisqu'elle ne votera pas pour Trump s'il est le candidat républicain ?

I just finished reading Liz Cheney's book Oath and Honor. Although I disagree with just about all of her politics, I have great respect for her as a human being. What follows is my review of her book:

The book is structured as a memoir interwoven with a political analysis and a call to action. Cheney recounts her personal journey, her political career, and the tumultuous events leading up to and following the January 6th insurrection. The book is both a historical account and a personal narrative, providing insights into her decision-making process and the internal conflicts she faced.
Central to Cheney's memoir is the theme of patriotism. She discusses her deep-seated belief in the principles enshrined in the Constitution and her sense of duty to uphold them, even when it meant going against her own party at great personal costs. She highlights the importance of courage and integrity in political life. She details her struggles and the backlash she faced within the Republican Party for her stance on January 6th, emphasizing the need for leaders to prioritize truth over political expediency.
The book serves as a warning about the dangers of misinformation and the erosion of democratic norms. Cheney calls for a recommitment to democratic principles and urges both politicians and citizens to stand up against threats to democracy.
Although some may find Cheney's account to be partisan, given her position and experiences, this bias is somewhat inevitable, after all, she is a Republican! She has indicated that she would do whatever it takes to stop Trump from becoming president again. She has expressed willingness to endorse and support candidates who share her commitment to defending democratic principles and preventing Trump’s return to power. I know from reading this book, she has voted for Democrats in the past: will she do it again since she will not be voting for Trump if he is the Republican nominee?

A fascinating insight into the unbelievable corruption of Trump. Very well written by an amazingly strong and incredibly hard-working lady. One of the tests I subconsciously apply to non-fiction is would I like to meet and spend time talking to the writer; Liz Cheney certainly passes this test.
