See photo.I was using a toothbrush to clean the inside of the spout and I may have been a bit too vigorous in my cleaning. I’ve since bought another of these and will clean very gently with a very small, very soft bottle brush.

This replaced other separators we have for homemade bone broth. This one has a flexible spout that gets pinched closed & squeezing the handle opens it. The fat/grease floats, and the broth goes out the bottom, hopefully into the pre-chosen storage container. This device is faster than the others we use. The weak link will be how long the flexible spout remains pliable & doesn't leak. So far after a couple of months, several batches of broth, no leaks. The spout is too small to use the device for pancake batter, or try to chill the broth in the device & expect the cold, gelled broth to flow out. For hot broth, it works great, which is what it was designed to separate.
