I decided to purchase this projector for the combination of price and feature set to replace my 10 year old Optoma projector. The PJ40 has 200 more ANSI Lumens than my old projector, along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Auto Keystone, etc. that weren't available in 2014.As you can see from the attached pictures, the image quality is very good in a dark space but is watchable with some light in the room (the 2nd pic is with two 5 watt LED wall sconces turned on. 700 ANSI Lumens is still not super-bright). This provides a good balance between a movie theater experience and, say, watching a sporting event where you might be moving around the room more and need some ambient light. I would recommend you use the PJ40 in a light controlled room for best results. In my space with a 200" screen I was happy with the brightness setting at about 60 out of 100 for good contrast without blowout.There are many picture settings to help dial in your preferred image, included HDR, Picture Modes, Gamma Settings, Color Temp, Brightness, etc. all with custom sliders or Auto modes. I also appreciated the zoom and manual keystone settings (although it took a min to figure them out) as I have a fixed mount in my ceiling from my old projector, so being able to dial in the image size to fit my screen exactly was a very welcome feature.The PJ40 is a bit larger, with more airflow, a removable filter - see pic (which is cleanable, but they also include a replacement!), all which result in less fan noise to distract you from what you are watching.Another item that I really liked was the EasyLink CEC that allowed the PJ40 remote to control my Fire TV stick. It was enabled by default and worked with no setup.I tested the Bluetooth connection with some headphones and the setup was as easy as I would expect for modern BT connections.I did have some issue connecting the Wireless to my home network. I tried both my standard and 5G WiFi networks and at first the PJ40 did not want to connect. The password menu dialog took a little bit to figure out how to confirm the password once done typing it in, but it still wouldn't take. I connected to my open wifi network as a test, and that did work without issue. That allowed me to check the firmware on the projector to confirm it was up to date. After trying again to get connected, I was successful and the projector WiFi connection seems stable now that it has been established. Not sure what the issue was, could have been operator error.The remote works. The menu, return and home buttons are out of order compared to my Fire Stick remote, so I was pressing the back button when trying to press the menu button, etc. If I wasn't using the PJ40 remote to control the Fire Stick that wouldn't have been an issue, but as I was checking out the CEC feature, it's something that probably could have been matched better. It is a very click-y, not smooth, quiet remote, but it does work, and is way better than my old projector remote, which stopped working almost right after I got it.Overall, I am pleased with this projector. It is brighter than my previous one, loaded with features that make it easy to use and to customize the picture to your preferences. It is a great replacement in my scenario, where i am used to native 1080P with no need to go to a 4K price point.
