I use it to prevent rabbits from destroying my lawn
Over the last 9+ years I've had rabbits feast on my lawn at least twice daily (usually during dawn and dusk hours). Not only do they burrow holes in the ground, they also eat the grass to the roots, urinate, and leave their scat on the ground turning the area yellow. After getting Lawn Violation notices from an unsympathetic HOA Enforcement with a timeline to correct or get fined, I tried shooing the rabbits away, used a motion-detection lawn sprinkler to squirt them, and applied various repellants which had little effect. I then tried covering the front lawn in the dormant winter months with a jute mesh blanket so I wouldn't have the worst lawn in the neighborhood come spring. That worked okay, but when it came time to remove the blanket it was wet and smelled mildewy. So I opted to use something lighter, was less visible, didn't retain water, and let the lawn breathe. And that was bird netting.Overall it works well and prevents most of the damage. Like criminals, if you make your target harder then they will usually opt for a softer target (in this case another nearby unprotected lawn). Notwithstanding, there's been a couple of instances where a persistent rabbit has chewed through the bird netting to burrow a hole, but that's been more of an exception than a rule.As for application of the netting, just place it over your lawn, trim any excess, then secure with some garden staples. When it comes time to mow your lawn, place the staples and netting in a bin. Then when you're finished, reapply the netting and staplers where they were. While the climate has no affect on the netting, animals and people can tear it fairly easily if they snag and pull it.While pulling up the garden netting and staples weekly to mow the lawn then reapplying it is time consuming, it's not as bad as fretting over a poor lawn and spending lots of money on fertilizers, sprays, and water to try to fix it. So while I once had one of the worst lawns in the neighborhood because of rabbits, I now have one of the better lawns thanks to this garden netting.

Succeeds in Keeping my Cats Away From the Plants

Love the netting! It works perfectly. The new cat in the house's only vice is that he won't leave plants alone and will chew on leaves and knock the pots over every chance he gets. For the first few months I have just had a bedsheet thumb-tacked to the wall to keep him away from the plants. It has worked, but I was sick of it and wanted to actually see my plants again more often than just when I'm tending to them, so I bought some of this netting to replace the bedsheet. The cat did try eating through the netting, but thankfully even though it's lightweight, it's durable enough that the cat wasn't actually able to bite a hole into it. After that I just pinned a strip of fabric along the bottom where he could easily reach and he hasn't tried to get to the plants ever since. I have had the netting up for almost a week now. I was worried the cats might push into the netting to get to the plants, but one left it entirely alone and the other didn't try anything more than just biting the netting and failing to bite through. This is about 6 ft wide by maybe 5 ft long of netting for this project and I still have a ridiculous amount of netting left over to use later. I highly recommend this netting if you're like me and desperately want to garden but have no yard to do it outside and want to protect your indoor plants from plant-obsessed cats.
