Upgraded to this new design as the old bottle cap would leak. I’m not a fan of the new design. Very uncomfortable holding it but as least it doesn’t leak. Old one was better from a design perspective so I might try and swap the cap from the new one and put it on the old bottle.

I bought this for very long distance runs to avoid chafing associated with belts and backpacks. The bottle has an odd shape and the tightening strap gets a little loose as you run. The straps look cheap. I've only used this on a single 20 mile run so far and it held up, but don't know how long it will last. As other reviews state the bottle leaks. It leaked out of the side of the twist on cap just a tiny bit while I would take a drink. I was able to hold the bottle above my mouth and squeeze the drink into my mouth to avoid the drink running down the side of my face. So far it gets the job done, but I wouldn't buy it again.

I’ve run with Nathan water bottles for a while. I’ve been seeing a lot of these flat bottles so I thought I’d give it a try. This one has 4 main deficiencies.

1. Bottle is so slippery. There is a small rubber grip in the side of the bottle, but the minute it gets wet (either from sweat or condensation) it feels like a bar of soap.
2. Uncomfortable handle. Since the bottle is so slippery you are forced to put your thumb through the handle in order to keep hold of the bottle. There is no padding and after a few minutes the edges of the hole cut into your thumb making it very uncomfortable and even painful.
3. The key holder is underneath the bottle and only accessed from the inside of the holder. So you have to take the bottle out of the holder to access anything. This wouldn’t be the end of the world, but it is extremely difficult to fit the holder around the bottle.
4. It is difficult to get fluids out of the bottle. You have to kind of squeeze and even then it comes out in a very thin stream.

I was very disappointed in this bottle as everything else I’ve ever bought from the Nathan brand was salad and very functional.

I couldn’t find the bottle I used to use for years when the lid finally broke so this seemed like a good choice to replace it. It’s handy and easy to carry but it’s very hard to get more than a little trickle out of each sip. I’m not expecting to gulp my water, but this is ridiculous. Almost not worth carrying it. It literally will wet a dry mouth and that’s it.
