I use this with the Matrix Brass-Off shampoo. My hair is naturally salt and pepper - true jet black and silver. I made a grave error in judgment by coloring my hair. I immediately regretted the decision. As I let the color grow out, it is getting to be a very brassy yellow and orange. I was on the verge of coloring it again, as I simply could not stand it!
My hairdresser recommended I purchase this shampoo and conditioner. When used as directed, it will brighten your silver and white tones removing all the yellowish tone that can result from hard water, residue from other products, etc. Additionally, my hairdresser recommended that once a week (or when I choose it) I put the shampoo on my DRY hair, gently comb it through to be sure all hair is covered, and leave it for 15-30 minutes. When I get into the shower, I add water and treat it like I would generally shampoo. I leave it on my hair, with the water added for another 5 minutes. My hair is left with a very light, cool, almost-unnoticeable-bluish-purple tone instead of the harsh brassy orange and yellow. The best part is that if I feel like it is too bluish, the tinting washes right out with a clarifying shampoo!
If I feel my hair is too dry to do this treatment with the shampoo, I do it with the conditioner. The conditioner maintains the gentle bluish-lavender tone to the hair without drying it out. This is making it very easy to let my color grow out! I will continue to use this shampoo and conditioner after the artificial color grows out. It will keep my silver bright and shiny!
