Losing Our Religion: The Liberal Media's Attack on Christianity Hardcover – January 1, 1657

"The press has become a tool of oppression—politicized, self–aware, self–motivated, and power–hungry. . . . In short, these people can no longer be trusted." —From S. E. Cupp’s Losing Our Religion It’s time to wake up and smell the bias. The go-to commentator for such programs as Fox News’s Hannity and CNN’s Larry King Live and Reliable Sources , S. E. Cupp is just that—a reliable source for the latest news, trends, and forecasts in young, bright, conservative America. Savvy and outspoken when shattering left-leaning assumptions as she did in Why You’re Wrong About the Right , Cupp now takes on the most pressing threat to the values and beliefs held and practiced by the majority of the marginalizing of Christianity by the flagrantly biased liberal media. From her galvanizing introduction, you know where S. E. Cupp She’s an atheist. A non-believer. Which makes her the perfect impartial reporter from the trenches of a culture war dividing America and eroding the Judeo-Christian values on which this country was founded. Starting at the top, she exposes the unwitting courtship of President Obama and the liberal press, which consistently misreports or downplays Obama’s clear discomfort with, or blatant disregard for, religious America—from covering up religious imagery in the backdrop of his Georgetown University speech to his absence from events surrounding the National Day of Prayer, to identifying America in his inaugural address as, among other things, "a nation of non-believers." She likens the calculated attacks of the liberal media to a class war, a revolution with a singular to overthrow God and silence Christian America for good. And she sends out an urgent call for all Americans to push back the leftist propaganda blitz striking on the Internet, radio, television, in films, publishing, and print journalism—or invite the tyrannies of a "mainstream" media set on mocking our beliefs, controlling our decisions, and extinguishing our freedoms. Now, discover the truth behind the war against Christmas—and how political correctness keeps the faithful under wraps . . . the one-sided analyses of Prop 8 and the gay marriage debate . . . the media pot-shots at Sarah Palin’s personal faith . . . the politicization of entertainment mainstays such as American Idol and the Miss USA Pageant . . . and much more. Also included are her penetrating interviews with Dinesh D’Souza, Martha Zoller, James T. Harris, Newt Gingrich, Kevin Madden, and Kevin Williamson of National Review , delivering must-read analyses of the latest stunning lowlights from the liberal media.

I can only comment on the part of this book that I know first hand about, chapter 4, thou shall evolve, about evolutionism. Cupp notes, correctly, "For Liberals, Darwin is the antidote to Jesus, quite literally the antiChrist." p. 92. She spends a good deal of time documenting the one sided coverage of the media in this area, and gives several good examples. Cupp noted that much was said in the media about the putative death threats that Judge Jones experienced after he ruled against Intelligent Design, but the media has totally ignored the documented death threats against those who have questions about the ability of evolution to create all life. Cupp quotes one person who testified at the trial for the ID side who said he got hostile e-mail "from all over the world. I couldn't believe that these professors who are supposed to be educated people would take time to send me e-mails that would say things like, 'I hope you burn in hell.'" p. 103 From my experience, this chapter is very accurate. See the book Slaughter of the Dissidents here on Amazon. I also find it significant that the 6 books I have read about liberal bias in the media all got slammed, often mostly by use of character assassination, on Amazon, indicating the claim is valid.

If you suspect a strong anti-christian media bias... (if you don't you probably don't watch the news) this book is definitely for you. It is unique in that you are reading about christian issues from a self-proclaimed devout atheist. Honestly, that is the hook that got me to make the purchase. After having read the book I don't really think the author's own faith really ends up as much of a factor in her arguments which is part of her point, as an atheist she is non-biased. She is an intelligent young lady and makes some very good points. I agree with another reviewer that she probably pulls too much in from others in the form of quotes... I'd have liked to read more of her original thoughts. As it is... I feel that it was a good read and more than worth the time spent in reading it.

This book is very good. I am a born again Christian and I've noticed over the years (which is not hard to notice this) that Christianity is taking a very hard hit from the media and all of America. I found it interesting that the author, S. E. Cupp, is an atheist and she's noticed how Christianity is being slammed by the liberal media. I know that Christian's are noticing this, but is the rest of our country noticing this? She has quotes from many news casters, journalists, etc. to back all of her findings. Christian's are not hate mongers or homophobic which is what the liberal media portrays us as. It is a must read for Christians and non-Christians too.

If you've seen S.E. Cupp on Fox News or CNN, the contents of this book will be familiar. Her commentary on society and politics is highly critical of the liberal media, President Obama, and the political left. The book is based on the idea that the culture is waging a war against Christianity and conservatism.

But this book is a little off of her usual track. She defends Christianity, rather cogently, despite being a declared atheist herself. As a believer, I'm not offended by this. She sees things to admire in Christianity. She finds that Christianity is important to the history and future of this nation.

The book is an easy read; the discussion flows well. It's also well-researched, with many quotes and references to past political events. Recommended.

To those looking for a new perspective, this books offers refreshing insight into an otherwise polluted media. SE Cupp doesn't identify rights or behaviors or traits as wrong but rather condemns the Liberal media for condemning those who are strongly rooted in positions of faith.

In summary the message is not that the liberal left is bad because of political views but bad because they have developed a pattern of ignoring religious and faith based content and subsequently belittling those who do.

A true conservative, not a radical tea party supporter or a Libertarian, SE tells it how she sees it, a world in which people of faith are becoming marginalized as a result of how they are portrayed by the likes of Bill Maher and Rachel Madow.

It was extremely satisfying to see that there are others who notice how the liberal media paints those who go against the liberal agenda as being savage and uncaring.

Nothing to do with Amazon, the book was delivered fresh and clean.

That said, the book is boring. Mega-boring.
Poorly constructed, I could have written it in about two weeks.
Nothing to recommend it, and I like S.E. Cupp on TV.

I always love seeing S.E. Cupp on TV and reading her columns in the Daily News.

I think this book is brilliant.

She addresses issues that most people are too scared to talk about.

I love her humor and her writing style most of all, even if you don't agree with her views I feel like you could enjoy this simply for the artistry of her writing alone.

At some points she reminds me of Flannery O'Connor.

I hope S.E. Cupp writes more books.

If she ever runs for office I'd become a Republican just to support her.

I like S.E. Cupp, and I enjoying reading her columns, and especially like her role on the new "Crossfire". The problem for me with this book is that it struck me as a rehash of what I already knew. Now, this is mitigated by two things: first, the book is 2-1/2 years old, and second, I watch a ton of stuff, esp. on Fox News, and I read a good deal. Therefore, this was not new info to me. So my '3' rating is not an opinion of the quality of the writing in the book or its subject matter, but rather its interest level to me. If you are not already fairly cognizant re the culture war and the war on Christianity, then you might find this book a good deal more interesting and informative than I did.
