It is a sturdy, attractive item that can be used as a side table. We used it on a back porch so the leakage didn’t damage the floor. Had I known this was an issue probably would not have bought.

I’m not sure of the purpose of the hole in the top.. perhaps to prevent it from creating a vacuum, so that it’s easy to open? I’m not sure. The hole does allow rain to get in, so I keep a plant on top of it when not in use as a cooler. That keeps the rain out.
