I've purchased a few of these over the years. The install is pretty straight forward. Anyone with knowledge of replacing an electrical switch will be able to install this with no problems. The wifi setup is also pretty straight forward. You need the KASA app to control them and set schedules if you'd like that. I use mine to turn on/off exterior lights at dusk and dawn and it helps with interior lights so it looks like someone is home when you're away. The only issue I've had with the KASA switches is the 3 way switches. Basically they work for manual on and off but scheduling on/off times doesn't work. The lights stay on when they're supposed to turn off. I contacted tech support a year or two ago and they eventually gave up. Apparently it's a known problem with their 3 way switches and scheduling. Too bad otherwise they work great. Its best to try and stick with one brand so you're not flipping back and forth between different apps all the time.

I needed to control my lights while I was away, so decided to jump into home kit. Opted for this as it was matter certified and the install seemed dead simple. Thankfully, it was. Took me 5 min to install and setup. I think I spent most of the time getting the switch aligned with the other switch as I am a little OCD for that stuff, but setup wise works perfectly. App is nice, but I only use it for things like firmware, otherwise will use the home app (setup was equally easy).

It does come with a QR code to scan, but I had to stick it on the side. Wish it was attached to the front.

The plate it comes with is nice and sturdy. Overall, very nice. Just wish there was a 3 way from Kasa that was HomeKit capable so I could stick with one app.

I’m in the process of replacing many Z-Wave switches with ones directly compatible with the Alexa devices and was intrigued by these new Matter compatible devices. The older (pre-Matter) switches were very easy to install and integrate with the Alexa app quite quickly. This one isn’t as easy as the online documentation is very confusing, indicating in some places to integrate it first with the KASA app, and in others to use Alexa first. The KASA app integration always worked fine and was quick, however then following the instructions for Alexa wouldn’t work. I then reset the device and tried integrating it to Alexa first. The first 5 times failed, then the 6th succeeded and it worked from the Alexa app for about 12 hours then disappeared.
I tried again about 7 more times to get it to integrate to Alexa and each time it looked like it was working, it would say the WiFi password was incorrect (it wasn’t).
In one last attempt before returning it as not-working, I reset it again and integrated it first with the KASA app. It integrated right away so rather than following the instructions for adding it to Alexa via the app I just said “Alexa find my new devices” and it did! It’s been working for over 24 hours straight now and continues to be controllable through both the KASA app and Alexa. So the lesson learned is: Integrate first with the KASA app and let Alexa take it from there!

Yes, this is not a motion-activated switch, but with Apple Homekit Automatons, I was able to replace a bad one.

A friend installed a motion-activated light switch in my garage but a few months later, I noticed the switch was not turning off the lights after the preset time. This was frustrating when I would see the lights had been on all night.

I have a couple of Kasa's outlet plugs with Apple Home and have loved them so I decided to try out one of their switches. They include a good set of instructions and a set of named sticky tabs so you can mark and forget the ground, neutral, and hot wires. Once the breaker was switched off, it only took about 10 minutes to install.

I have an Apple TV and a Homepod mini which allowed me to connect the Kasa switch via Matter and setup was a breeze. Once the switch was in my Apple ecosystem, I created an automation that instantly turned the Kasa switch on when my Aqara P2 door sensor was triggered and turned off the lights after 10 minutes. This and the ability to ask "Siri, turn off (or on) the garage lights" is a huge win!

 Tried in different areas in the home cannot get it to connect to WiFi or blue tooth figure maybe the wires was loose but still continues to blink on and off . I believe it is some type of defect . The box model says ks205 but on the switch it says ks200 . I’m not buying this again I’m just gonna get the bulb and go from there I scan the QR in hopes to get it to stop but still blinks not sure if this item is any good due to the labels I believe there’s some type of confusion in the factory .

It's a great option if you live with a person who doesn't get smart light bulbs or you have good 'ol light bulbs. However, beware if you don't have a Neutral wire, this one requires a Neutral wire to connect.

Since I don't have that kind of wiring in my house I connected the Neutral and Ground together to the Ground of my house and it worked as a charm. This took me about 3 hours to figure it out, hopefully this comment can save you some hours.
