A twisting, pulse-pounding thriller from Freida McFadden, the New York Times bestselling author of The Housemaid and The Coworker

"You must be our new neighbors!" Mrs. Lowell gushes and waves across the picket fence. I clutch my daughter's hand and smile back: but the second Mrs. Lowell sees my husband a strange expression crosses her face. In that moment I make a promise. We finally have a family home. My past is far, far behind us. And I'll do anything to keep it that way…

I used to clean other people's houses―now, I can't believe this home is actually mine. The charming kitchen, the quiet cul-de-sac, the huge yard where my kids can play. My husband and I saved for years to give our children the life they deserve.

Even though I'm wary of our new neighbor Mrs. Lowell, when she invites us over for dinner it's our chance to make friends. Her maid opens the door wearing a white apron, her hair in a tight bun. I know exactly what it's like to be in her shoes. But her cold stare gives me chills…

The Lowells' maid isn't the only strange thing on our street. I'm sure I see a shadowy figure watching us. My husband leaves the house late at night. And when I meet a woman who lives across the way, her words chill me to the bone: Be careful of your neighbors.

Did I make a terrible mistake moving my family here?

I thought I'd left my darkest secrets behind. But could this quiet suburban street be the most dangerous place of all?

From New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Freida McFadden comes the next installment of the unbelievably twisty, tension-packed and globally bestselling Housemaid series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone read: and once you start, it will have you up all night racing through the pages until the final explosive twist.

I have read all these housemaid books about Millie. I have read online reviews on this book where people said it was awful. I totally disagree. It may not be as wonderful as the first book in the series, which is probably usually the case, but I think it is another good book about Millie. It kept me wandering and wanting to read more. I read this book in three days. A friend of mine read it and loved it as well. I think this book left a lot hanging about many of the characters. I think Freida could write many books on some of these character’s backgrounds. I connect so well with her writing and never get bored. I think it was totally worth the read and I’m praying she writes a book 4 very soon because I will be buying that and reading it as well!! You go, Freida!!!

I loooooveeee all Freida McFadden books and this set was no exception!
However give this book 3 stars because while the plot is intriguing and the characters are well-developed, I loved seeing what life married to Enzo is like but I found some parts of the story to be predictable and the pacing a bit slow at times. It felt like in some areas it dragged and I was anticipating a "The Shock"
However, Freida's writing style is soooooo engaging and the suspense the second guesses maintained throughout the book! This is by far a decent read for fans that love mystery and suspense.

Terrific ending to a fabulous series! Way to call it a wrap Ms. McFadden! In the third and final book to the Housemaid series, Millie is married to handsome landscaper Enzo and together they have two children, Ada and Nico. After moving from their small apartment to a home on Long Island, Millie is sure she has finally achieved everything she wanted. But the neighbors on her cul-de-sac are strange, each in their own way. And the maid that is now cleaning Millie’s house seems peculiar as well. Will life at Number 14 Locust Street be all that she wished for? A quick-paced, thrilling ending to the series that was all the rage. Freida McFadden never disappoints and how she conjures up her book ideas, is a mystery of its own.

📱 Ebook: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ LOVED it!!!

🎧 Audiobook: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Narrated by Lauryn Allman, Ina Marie Smith
Fantastic narration! The story was told in an enjoyable manner.

The Housemaid is Watching is the last book in the Housemaid trilogy that continues Millie's story. They move their family to a dream house they buy on Long Island. However, it doesn't turn out to be so dreamy once they learn about their creepy neighbors.

✴️ What I liked:

~ "By the end of this night, if I have not stabbed Suzette with one of these forks, it will only be because I'm not sure which one to use to do it." Haha the sass, the characters, what's not to love? 😅

~ Freida has done it again!!! Just when you think you know what's happening, well, just kidding, then there's an unexpected twist. 🤣

~ THE EPILOGUE!!! 👀 Another twist I did not see coming! 😱 I loved the ending!

✴️ What didn't work for me:

~ Some of the beginning was a little slower paced.

✴️ Final thoughts:

The Housemaid is Watching is the most anticipated book I've read so far! I absolutely LOVED The Housemaid, but this one has definitely become my second favorite in the series.

All three Housemaid books have really resonated with me as a DV/SA survivor advocate. Some of the material can be a bit triggering at times, but they are all so empowering! Millie is a bad ass and I love every moment in her world. Thank you Freida for writing this series! 💜💙

Thrilling, suspiciously suspenseful, and chalked full of deceitful lies and twist after twist.
I think that this third book in the Housemaid series wonderfully concludes Millie’s story. The way that the story is woven together and ties together all three books is masterful. I always enjoy when series interweave like that.
I would say, although this is a mystery, thriller, suspense genre, I found myself nailing the end of the book. I don’t know what that says about me or the book or that maybe I’m too much of a true crime junkie. Either way, the ending was very much justified.
This series is my first introduction to Freida McFadden, but it’s really gotten me hooked and eager to read more of her work.
I’d like to consider myself another version of Ada, although I think she’s braver than I could ever be.

If you are on the fence about checking out this series, but you are a fan of mystery thrillers and suspense, I highly highly recommend. I wasn’t disappointed by the hype these and other McFadden’s works have gotten over social media.

The praise has definitely been earned.

Enjoy Readers :)

Ps. I would check your possible trigger warnings. There isn’t anything explicitly written about but definitely alluded to. I should also add, that although there are slight triggers, there aren’t very many and they are brief.

WOW! just WOW!!

From the beginning I was extremely surprised and did not expect what we were introduced to, but I was extremely happy with it as well.

It was absolutely brilliant trying to figure out what Millie was going to end up involved with this time round as she always finds herself in situations like the first two books, but I was surprised by this one.

The whole book was brilliant, kept me guessing which is what I liked about the first two, but the introduction of a few new characters was good as well, but I was really surprised by the return of some old characters as well, even the mention of old characters was perfect.

From chapter 58 onwards I was shocked to be honest, and the last chapter (epilogue) definitely surprised me, but it was written amazingly and I was drawn in even more than I was with the rest of the book.

I really shouldn't be surprised anymore with one of @fmcfaddenauthor books, but I was genuinely surprised and shocked with this one, but I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it 😊.

If you have read the first two books and haven't got this yet, you definitely need to get it, or maybe sweet talk a family member or friend in to getting you a copy 😂.
