Rhye's fourth studio album, Home, is familiar in its synthesis of propulsive beats, orchestral flourishes, piano ruminations and sultry, gender-nonconforming vocals, but they have never sounded more cohesive or alive. Written throughout 2019 and early 2020, it was mixed by Alan Moulder and recorded at Milosh's home studio, United Recording Studios, and Revival at The Complex. CD Sofpak.

"Home" ist das offizielle vierte Studioalbum (die "Blood Remixes" nicht mitgezählt) von Michael Milosh, seit einiger Zeit einziges Mitglied des ehemaligen Duos "Rhye". Der Titel spielt natürlich auf die Lockdown-Situation an, in der die Scheibe entstand. Musikalisch beeinflusste das die Musik von Rhye aber kein Stück, die mich immer noch sehr an Sade erinnert. Das 47:14 Minuten lange Album mit 13 Tracks beginnt und endet mit einem Intro und einem Outro, für die Milosh den Danish National Girls Choir gewinnen konnte, deren Beiträge dann natürlich schon anders klingen, aber adäquat in die melancholische Grundstimmung von Rhyes Stücken einführen. Die verbleibenden 11 Tracks wurden mit diversen Mitmusikern zusammen geschrieben, klingen aber wie aus einem Guß. Es gibt tatsächlich eine CD-Version der Scheibe, bei Rhye ja durchaus nicht selbstverständlich. Diese kommt im Gatefold-Pappcover mit Booklet, das die Texte aller 11 Stücke enthält. Schönes Album in gewohnter Qualität, das zwar musikalisch nicht viel Neues bietet, aber wozu auch etwas nahezu Perfektes verändern?

デビュー・アルバムからずっと、Rhye（ライ）を聴いているのですが、しなやかな女性の姿態をジャケットにあしらっているし、ものすごくハイトーンで透明感のある声なので、最初はてっきり女性シンガーなんだとばかり思っていました。が、セカンド・アルバムあたりで実はマイク・ミロシュというカナダ出身の男性アーティストと知ってびっくり。そんなこんながありましたが、Rhyeも着実にキャリアを重ねて 4枚目のアルバムに。
　教会の讃美歌のような「Intro」のアカペラ・コーラス。美しく厳かなのに、懐かしい優しさに満ちた神秘的な響きに心洗われます。
続く「Come In Closer」は、朝焼けのように明るく穏やかなサウンドに気だるくも優し気なヴォーカル、ふくよかなストリングス、そしてグルーヴィーなビートが織りなす最高にハッピーなアップテンポ。
　「Safeword」は、初夏の風のように爽やかで透明感のあるサウンドで軽快に駆け抜けるアップテンポ。情感豊かで起伏に富んだストリングスの音色に心和みます。一方、「Sweetest Revenge」では、哀感漂う内省的なメロディーが、ストリングスを交え、次第にスリリングなサビへと展開していきます。深夜の闇のようにミステリアスなサウンドの「Helpless」は、感傷的なサビが印象に残ります。この4曲が個人的に強く印象に残ったナンバー。それにしてもRhyeってこんなにアップテンポの曲ありましたっけ？　
　これらの曲以外にも、ストリングスを起用しながらもソリッドなビートが際立っている「Black Rain」なんて曲もあります。ただ、どれもハマっているあたりはさすが。
　もちろん、以前からの持ち味であるスロー、バラードも。
　そよ風のように穏やかで緩やかに流れる「Need A Lover」は、思わずまどろんでしまいそうなほどの心地良さ。気だるく感傷的なメロディーに、つぶやくようなハイトーンの歌声が胸に染みる「My Heart Bleeds」、内省的なピアノをバックにポツリポツリと歌われる「Fire」など。
　最後は、再び讃美歌のような美しく慈愛に満ちたアカペラ・コーラスの「Outro」で。
　デビュー時とは多少曲調が変わりましたが、心安らぐハイトーン・ヴォイスと、ストリングスを起用した優雅でロマンティックなサウンドはそのまま。抜群の安定度、最高のグッドミュージックです。
