This smells close to it when sniffing the bottle, but when shampooing, there's some floral fragrance that comes forward and just doesn't 'belong' with the Nag Champa scent from the original formula. I wish they'd get it right, but I'm glad to find something close. I've used Nature's Gate Herbal for 20 years. There are many fans out there.

I've been using the same shampoo and conditioner for decades (Dessert Essence) so I wanted to try and find a different product to try. I only purchase products that get great ratings fron ewg.org so that narrows the choices. I was hoping this shampoo might be an alternative to use. I found it to be horrible. It doesn't glide through the hair like you expect a shampoo to. The fragrance is strange and quite unpleasant. The fragrance also lingers after the hair is dry which is very annoying. Thankfully, I still had some Dessert Essence to finish the job. This product has been a total waste of money for me.

Like many others, I remember the old Nature's Gate Herbal shampoo and its simply divine fragrance. It was a product once tried, never forgotten. When I stumbled upon this, with its claim to replicate the old NG, I couldn't rest until I tried it. Verdict: close but no cigar. It smells nice but the fragrance is simply not the same. And the suds! Yikes!! I've never seen a shampoo so sudsy. I tried using a minimal amount, but no matter how little used, the foam was everywhere. A bit obnoxious, however, I'm using it up as a bubble bath.
