I wanted to get into using face bars since they're more concentrated and can't leak when traveling (plus the lack of plastic/water is good too). But my skin hates sodium cocoyl isethionate, which is in basically every face wash bar as one of the top 1-2 ingredients. So I finally bought this HiBar since the surfactants (and sodium cocoyl isethionate in particular) are pretty far down the ingredients list. I'm trying to repair my skin barrier, so I thought the hydrating aspect would be good too. OMG this bar is a godsend and I hope they never change the formula. It's like the CeraVe hydrating cleanser, very lotiony feel, except (unlike the CeraVe) it actually gets my skin clean. My skin passes the white paper towel test after washing with the HiBar. I also feel less need to moisturize after washing than with my old cleanser. As long as I don't wash my face twice with the HiBar, my skin is not irritated/stripped after like it usually is after using a sodium cocoyl isethionate bar.
For the people complaining about it melting: get the gray Coleman soap holders that you suction cup to your shower wall. These soap holders are awesome since the bottom is very open, allowing your bar to fully dry. Plus they keep water out of your bar, and they are antimicrobial. Because this is a humectant bar, I get how it could attract water more than a strip-your-face off bar. But I can still see mine lasting at least a couple months storing it this way, and mine is not falling apart. I don't even have to take it out of the shower between uses.

Best exfoliating facial wash Ive tried!
I've been using HiBars for years. I'm always excited when they invent a new product because I trust the company. Their products are top-quality and never disappoint.The trick is to keep them high and dry between uses. With the facial wash, wet your hands first and gently rub the bar several times. You will have plenty to get a good exfoliation.It will last a long time and longer than a plastic tube or bottle with 90% water!I love the way they look on my bathroom sink and in my shower—like sculptures. I'm a minimalist at heart andit feels great to know I'm doing my small part to keep our planet cleaner with less waste.

I'll start by saying that I absolutely love how soft my face feels after using the bar face soap. I have no complaints about how well it works to gently exfoliate.
What knocks this down a couple stars is the fact that it stays mushy and never hardens back up even after sitting there for days untouched. It was mushy right out of the box, so it wasn't because of water that it's become this way either. It immediately stuck to my hands and I had to wash them as soon as I removed it from the box the day I received it. A week later, it's still mushy. Maybe I should stick it in the freezer/fridge? I honestly don't know at this point and it's so frustrating since I'm seeing it dwindle away rapidly. At this rate, it won't even last a few weeks, vs 2-3 months of the shampoo bars that get daily use. I have no issues with the shampoo/conditioner bars, so whatever they did to change how these bars are made hasn't worked out very well and the consistency is that of a permanently waterlogged bar of soap.

UPDATE: I've now gone through another face bar that the seller sent me following their product update to dix the issue. Unfortunately, it was no better. It wasn't a mess right out of the box, but it still didn't last past 2 weeks and has the same wet oatmeal consistency from before. I'm reducing my rating to 1 star since this bar still isn't ready for prime time. The picture is of the bar the first week of use in June 2022.Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2022
