Unique. Dramatic. Entertaining. These are the top 3 words that come to mind when I finished reading The Five-Star Weekend by Elin Hildebrand last night. Elin captures five women's lives in one eventful weekend. It's a story about love, friendship, grieving, and self-discovery with strong writing and character development.Hollis Shaw invites 4 friends--one best friend from each stage of her life to a weekend getaway at her home in Nantucket. Each friend held a special place in Shaw's life and entertainment ensued when they all got together--some knew each other before the weekend, others got to know each other during the weekend.What really impacted me was how Hollis reacted when she found out Gigi's secret, and the truth about her dead husband. Lots emotions. There's anger, there's sadness, there's closure. And there's grace. While I don't condone Gigi's behavior, she was grieving as well. I love the message given to Gigi, "You deserve to be somebody's number one."This book was a much-needed break from all the Colleen Hoover books I've been reading lately! I really enjoyed this summer read. Definitely recommend.
